SOURCE: I cannot receive faxes. I have a voicemail set up

If you have a voicemail set on the same line then you may only be able to use either the fax or the voice mail if you want to the fax then change the rings to answer on the fax to 2 (setup button->basic fax settings->rings to answer->press ok on 2) keep the mode to auto mode. However if you want to use both the voicemail and the fax on the same line you might have to get a DRP (Distinctive Ring Pattern) from you telephone company.

My brother printer is saying it can't clean. It normally does this when I turn it on.

Here are several pages which tackle this problem. Some include pictures as well as explanation.

How do clear the message Unable to or Unable Brother

Determine the error code by the following. unplug the unit, hold down the Menu/Set key, re-insert the power plug while holding down the Menu/Set key. The internal Machine Error Code will be displayed. Unplug and re-plug the unit again. You should get error code 46. If so:

Dismantle the printer, replace the ink absorber box (or possibly break it open and clean its sponges under a tap). Re-assemble the printer and reset the purge counter to zero. The counter is reset as follows according to Ronald Massey:

  1. Enter machine maintenance mode (on MFC210C all four photo/copy/fax/scan lights flash in maintenance mode). Care is needed in maintenance mode, otherwise critical settings may be inadvertently corrupted.
  2. FAX models with numerical keypads: Press the Menu/Set, *, 2, 8, 6 and 4 keys within two seconds. (if you fail to complete the correct key sequence within two seconds, press the Stop key to try again).
  3. Other (non-FAX) models: Press the Menu/Set and Black Start keys. Next press the up arrow key four times to enter the maintenance mode).
    1. Press the 8 then 0 keys in the initial stage of the maintenance mode to call up the machine's log information list (function code 80).
    2. Press the Black Start key several times to scroll through the log information list to reach the purge counter. The purge counter is the 25th item in the list.
    3. Press the 2, 7, 8, and 3 keys in this order to reset the purge count to zero.
  4. Press the Stop/Exit key to return to the initial stage of the maintenance mode.
  5. Press the 9 key twice to return to the standby state

Return Sharp XE-A102 cash register to factory settings

MASTER RESET
Master reset: Clears all the memory and initializes each preset parameter. The master reset should be performed by using the following procedure.
1. Turn off the power (Power OFF). (See Note 1.)
2. Remove the memory back up battery from ECR.
3. Turn the mode switch to any position other than Power OFF.
4. Turn on the power (Power ON). (See Note 2.) When the master rest is completed, the buzzer sounds three times.
5. Install the memory back up batteries back into the ECR. The master reset can also be accomplished in the following case. (See Note 3.)
Note 1) Power OFF: Means disconnecting the AC power supply to the machine. (Specifically, unplugging the machine.)
Note 2) Power ON: Means connecting the AC power to the machine. (Specifically, plugging in the machine.)
Note 3) In case a power failure occurs when the machine has no battery installed, the master reset operation is automatically performed after the power has been restored.

This is a fuser error, it can be reset by hitting these keys in order.

Additional Function, # ( Service mode)

Scroll right to #7, press set

Scroll right to #4, Printer reset, press set

Select yes by hitting left arrow key

Let printer reset then unplug and re-plug power.

This should reset it, unless you actually have a bad fuser.

We have a Brother Intellifax 4100e, business class laserfax, superg3 fax machine in our office. When the fax machine goes into sleep mode, we can't get it to come out of sleep mode unless we unplug it and...

Try changing the sleep mode settings. Sometimes it's set too long or too short. You can try the perimeter reset as well. The instructions I have for that is as follows:

hit the menu button and numbers *2864 (star before the four numbers)
then hit 91(set) wait a few seconds for the maintenance screen to return
then hit 99(set) when it beeps saying completed that could fix your problem.

Hope this helps.

Analog Power Saving Mode Problem!

Have you checked you power saving options in Control panel.
If this is a desktop, unless you are a energy miser, I would change your power saving options to never on all options, turn off hibernation and suspension for when you are playing games.
You can find this in control panel under power Options.
Let me know if this helps.
Thank you

Unable to clean ... Brother MFC 3240C

Machine Error 46, Purged Ink Box Full

The machine counts all purge (cleaning) operations in order to prevent the internal ink absorber box from overflowing with purged ink. An initial purge, for example, advances the purge counter by 187 420 = 607. When the purge counter approaches 6400, an internal "Machine Error 46" is generated. Further purge operations are prohibited, and therefore the printer becomes unusable.

When an internal Machine Error 46 is generated, the user will see an "Unable to Clean" external message and will be unable to use the printer. The "Unable to Clean" external message can relate to many different internal error codes however.

The user can establish the internal Machine Error Code as follows: unplug the unit, hold down the Menu/Set key, re-insert the power plug while holding down the Menu/Set key. The internal Machine Error Code will be displayed. Unplug and re-plug the unit again before continuing to the steps below.

If there is a Machine Error 46, it is necessary to dismantle the printer, replace the ink absorber box (or possibly break the ink absorber box open and clean its absorbent sponges under a tap), re-assemble the printer and reset the purge counter to zero.

Resetting purge counter:

1) Enter machine maintenance mode (on MFC210C all four photo/copy/fax/scan lights flash in maintenance mode). Care is needed in maintenance mode, otherwise critical settings may be inadvertently corrupted.

FAX models with numerical keypads: Press the Menu/Set, *, 2, 8, 6 and 4 keys within two seconds. (if you fail to complete the correct key sequence within two seconds, press the Stop key to try again).

Other (non-FAX) models: Press the Menu/Set and Black Start keys. Next press the up arrow key four times to enter the maintenance mode).

2) Press the 8 then 0 keys in the initial stage of the maintenance mode to call up the machine's log information list (function code 80).

3) Press the Black Start key several times to scroll through the log information list to reach the purge counter. The purge counter is the 25th item in the list.

4) Press the 2, 7, 8, and 3 keys in this order to reset the purge count to zero.

5) Press the Stop/Exit key to return to the initial stage of the maintenance mode.

6) Press the 9 key twice to return to the standby state.

Memory faulty

Hi,

Perform a semi-full reset on the all-in-one by following the steps below >
  1. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the all-in-one.
  3. Wait 30 seconds and plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  4. Press the Cancel and Right Arrow buttons.
  5. While still holding the buttons, plug the power cord back into the all-in-one. Continue to hold the buttons for two seconds, and then release them
  6. Allow the all-in-one to re-initialize. This may take a minute or two.
  7. If prompts appear in the all-in-one display to set the front panel language and country settings, perform the steps to set this information.
The problem should be corrected. If the problem still exists, replace your product.

Thanks
