Question about HP Officejet 5610 All-In-One InkJet Printer

HP 5610 My printer worked fine but suddenly it will not print from email or internet. It will print a test page and a word doc. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software but it has not helped.

HP print drivers are notorious for loading a bunch of crapware. Especially on the multi-function printers.

If you do not use the scanning features...I.E. you just print and copy. I would
Directions for XP

  • make sure the print queue is empty
  • go to add/remove programs uninstall all HP software and the driver software (if this is your only HP printer) Photosmart essentials, image zone...etc most ppl don't use these
  • double check the printer has been removed CP>Printers and Faxes if not delete it
  • right-click in a blank area in Printers and faxes> click server properties> drivers tab> delete old drivers
  • unplug the USB
  • reboot
  • download the Basic driver 49 MB vs the full 310MB http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=228&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=441125&lang=en
  • unzip and install

do you have a printer server setup in the network,if so try restarting the server when it happens and see if the prints will print, check with your network administrator, the printer spooler might be at fault, also try adding more memory to the printer.

Have Lexmark 1300 for 1 year working good on Vista Home, HP desktop. A couple of days back, the printer would print my doc but I could not print anything else after. Checking the printer queue, it shows...


This may sound radical, but remove the printer entirely from your system. The next time it comes up it will load all printer files again. Next try to print a test page and quickly see if it got out of the que, with the test page. Hope it works for you,

HP 5610 all in one printer, does not print from the internet.


check if it is the default printer...
check if it can print the 'test page'...
try also to use a different internet browser (like firefox or similar) for a test.

HP laserjet 4L wont print from computer


Normal 0 Driver could be corrupt.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came with the printer. When the software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.

First of all, have you ever been able to successfully print using this printer? If so, my first question would be, what has changed recently on the computer and/or printer that might have contributed to this problem? If you connected another device to the computer recently, it may somehow be interfering with your printer, either because of the physical hardware connection or because of the new device's drivers.

If you have never been able to print using this printer on this computer, the first thing I'd look for is what you looked for...connection problems. If everything is plugged in correctly, another issue might be a bad cord. Assuming the printer is powering up ok, you can rule out a bad power cord. If you are using a USB connector to attach the printer to the computer, check and see if the cord is damaged. It's very common to roll over a cord with your chair, damaging it. Even if it doesn't appear damaged, see if a replacement cord will work.

You could be having a problem with your drivers. You can try to uninstall and reinstall your printer on the computer. This will require the original driver disk that came with the printer. To uninstall the printer, you can follow the steps on this HP.com website:

Of course, I'm assuming you are using Windows and probably Windows XP, since that's the most common choice, but I could be incorrect.

Wrong Colors

Printing a test page is a good way to see if the issue is with the printer or the computer/application. You might also want to try to print different documents created with different applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) to see if they all don't print or only docs from one application don't print.

Printer queue is full


This problem seems to be related to USB printers and print queue issues are very common in Mac OS computers and Windows 2000 PCs.

You don't say if you are using a USB connector, but they're pretty common these days. You also don't say if you're using a Mac or PC, but most people use PCs. I did find a solution for this issue that says it's related to Windows 2000 and a USB printer, but may apply to other operating system platforms:

Print Jobs are Stuck in the Print Queue

The first step to this solution is to download and install an HP diagnostic software utility. There's a separate page at HP that describes the utility and lets you download it:

I didn't find any information that specifically said that you "can" print a test page but "can't" print a document.

Another reason why you might be able to print a test page but not a document isn't related to the printer but the application that created the document. If you are having trouble with Word or Excel or whatever office application you used to create the doc, it might not print. That's why it is helpful to try to print a variety of different docs, created with different apps.

It could also be the individual document. Occasionally, a document becomes corrupted and while you may be able to open it (and sometimes you can't do even that), it doesn't print. If you haven't tried printing more than one document, you can test this by creating another doc in the same app and seeing if it'll print.

Try doing test prints with different docs and then with docs created in different apps. If those work, it's doc/app related. If they don't, try the links I suggested above.

I'm assuming you went to the HP site and downloaded the Vista drivers??? Other than that try this:

  1. From Control Panel > printers... uninstall all printers.
  2. Unplug USB cable to printer and re-boot.
  3. Install Software.
  4. Plug USB cable back in.
