Question about Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console

Surge protector shuts off while playing PS3

Just started having this problem the other day, after moving into a new house. TV and PS3 plugged into a surge protector. PS3 and Verizon set-top box connected to TV using HDMI cables. In the middle of playing Fifa the surge protector shuts off and turns off the TV and PS3. I flip the surge back on and it happens again, this time much earlier than the first time. Because it is shutting off my surge protector I'm thinking this is more an outlet/electrical problem than a TV/PS3 connection problem. Any suggestions?

Swap to another surge protector. if it still does it, it is a power surge at the outlet, if it does not, the Surge Proctector has worn out. have someone with the appropriate knowlege have a look at the outlet as well. older outlets especially tend to wear to the point where the plug literally falls out of the wall.

I have a 60' lg..flat screen..walked in house.heard lighting in a distance.my daughter turned the tv on..then it shut off..think lighting hit it..any way to fix//

Always a good idea to have a "surge protector" between the wall outlet for electrical and the appliance plugged into it. A surge protector will prevent a surge that could damage your set. $10.

I have 20MC4306. Recently when you turn it off it turns itself back on. Also when you turn it on shuts off after 2 seconds. Tried putting in a video vhs then press play and wait few seconds and hit...

Sometimes when the TV recives a brodcast signal for a new update to the mainframes firmware, it will have to turn itself on to install/recive the update and aslong as it is connected to a power source it can do this. hope this helped answer your question. Have a good day :)

Olevia 37" no picture

check the TV power cord first., try to plug any other appliances on the same surge protector or outlet, like electric fan, electric iron., see if's work., if it does, probably the power supply of your TV is in trouble.

We moved our TV from it's normal spot (hooked into different power source and cable outlet) and now it's dead. It won't turn on at all. We moved it back to it's old spot and still no luck. We bought it...

If it was plugged in during a power surge without a surge protector, there is a possibility it could be dead. Or if it was plugged into a new outlet without a surge protector, especially if it was never properly shut off before the move, that could kill it. Try unplugging everything and letting it sit for 30 seconds, then try again (with a surge protector if you have one)

Taco timers and Surge Protectors

Do they run at the same time? The two items consume
a lot of power. Check the voltage when they are turned on. If the voltage is below 90 Volts. The power surge at your Taco is great. Then, the surge protector could not
handle the current inrush that's why it's blown off. You
must install a surge protector that can handle the Taco
current inrush.

We had a near lightning strike and now my tv (sanyo model ht27744)doesn't want to come on.

Lightening may have caused a surge on your power lines to the house and to the outlet the TV was on.
Do other things work on that outlet? If not you tripped a power breaker. If they do work check this.
Unplug the TV for 2 min or more and plug back in.
Try bypassing your surge protector you had it plugged into. It could have died when the lightening struck.
(no surge protector?) Bet you'll buy one for your next TV.
Look for 3000 joules and up rating for a surge protector and insure it has protection for a cable/antenna input too.
If this doesn't work the TV may be fried or internal fuse blown.
Time to take it to a repair shop or depending on it's age (5 years+) it may be time to buy a new TV and surge protector.
Near Lightening strikes can effect appliances from several inputs that could be affected from outside like Power, Cable, Antennas, Phone Lines that come into your house.

I would blame the bulb blowing, especially if they were on the same electrical system. One way you could stop this from happening again is to have anything electronic (your ps3) on a surge protector, then if you would have a power surge or anything like that, the surge protector would fry and the electronics hooked to it would be fine. Rather pay 12 bucks for a surge protector than a couple hundred for electronics :)

Sony Bravia LCD TV is tripping the fuse in the house

These things draw a huge surge current when turned on. What size fuse are you blowing? These things can surge 10-12 amps on turn-on. What about a fuse with a reset button. They will take alittle more surge before they go. Don't matter about the insignia working before because the cheaper sets tend to stay powered up more when off....thus not surging on from a dead start. Could you try a different plug on a different circuit/fuse? and see if that makes a difference. If you have a 15 amp fuse, then your pretty close with other stuff plugged in. What size is your service? Do you still have an original 60 amp box with screw in fuses? Is it an old house?
