Bulbs for Microscopes Has it really failed

Often bulbs can look perfectly intact even when the have actually failed.

Use or borrow a multimeter and test the continuity on its continuity setting. It normally buzzes when you put the leads together on most multimeters.

This simple test , plus testing fuses can save calling out an expert

I have a loud tapping in my front rocker box on my 2000 harley 1200 sportster custom i have pulled top and middle covers but the valve springs look fine and pushrods seem fine an thoughts?

I could be the bushings in the rocker arms and the rocker arm shafts. Bring the piston to top dead center on the cylinder that has the noise. Both valves should be closed. Allow about five minutes for the tappets to bleed down on that cylinder. When you can spin both of the pushrods with your fingers, remove the 5/16 inch bolts on the right hand side (pushrod side) of the head. This should allow you to push the rocker arm shaft out and remove the rocker arm. You may have to gently tap the rocker arm shafts out but it should not be difficult to get them out. Do not mix the rocker arms and their shafts up. Keep them together. Check the bushings in the rocker arms and the rocker arm shafts for wear. The bushings can be replaced and use new rocker arm shafts if this turns out out to be the problem. Check the face of the rocker arm where it pushes down on the valve stem for wear as well.

For '92 Dodge Spirit wiper assembly - where the arms come together in the center under grill - is that a rubber gasket, or a ball joint, or what ? that holds the 2 arms together? There is no keeper...

It is a plastic bushing that holds linkage together you can get replacement bushings from auto parts store like sitelogo_orly.gif

They can look it up in there books and get the right bushing to put it back together.

Where can I buy the light bulb for a 1200 zoom microscope in the state of Indiana

Microscope bulbs can be hard to find at a local hardware or electrical store in you area. The best, and cheapest solution is to go to http://www/bulbtronics.com. You will need to know the specification of the bulb in you are to buy online, but if not, their customer service folks are very good at helping you determine what those specifications are, and what bulb you will need to purchase.

I picked up a Bushnell 1200 power microscope at a thrift store without a manual. when I look through the eye piece all ia see is light, nothing that is on the slide. What is the missing link? thanks

You will need to focus in on the slide. There should be 2 1" diameter knobs on either side of the stand, and just to the rear. Those knobs control the height of the stage (where you slide sits). Slowly raise or lower while looking into the eyepiece. At some point something should be see, if the microscope is working properly.

Sometimes it is easiest to start with the lowest magnification. On the outside of the objective (little lenses hanging down that can be rotated) there should be some numbers written on them (usually 4, 10, 40). Those numbers reference your magnification. If you multiply that number by the eyepiece (10) magnification, you will get your total magnification, so start out with your 4x. It will give you the largest field of view, so it is great for finding whatever it is that you are looking for on your slide. It is also the easiest one to get focused. The higher you go in magnification, the smaller the field of view, thereby the more difficult it is focus in on your sample.

I have the 40-060660 microscope and have it almost put together-- except for the barlowe lens and erecting eyepiece. I just can't figure out what goes where?

You mean TELESCOPE not microscope.

Do NOT use the 2 x barlow.

Put the diagonal into the telescope, then put the eyepiece with the largest number written on it into the diagonal. Go outside during the day time and practice focusing on a distant object.

Double vision

it looks like when you took this apart you did not alignt the lenses properly, there should be a locating groove or stub which these lenses should fit to... it looks like they are pressing against the stub but are not located properly, hence the distortion. try taking it apart again....when you put it back together again the fault may have gone.
