Reset password Catalyst 4006 Ethernet Switch

Hi,

Depending on the Supervisor Module model, most likely it's a standard Cisco's "password recovery procedure":

Connect to the console
Reboot the switch (power cycle)
Start pressing Ctrl-C till you get to the BOOTROM
Change boot configuration register to 0x2142 (confreg 0x2142)
Boot the switch. It will ignore confuguration and boot "empty".
Go to "enable mode".
Copy startup configuration to running configuration ("copy start run")
Change boot register back to 0x2102 (conf t -> conf 0x2102)
Write config (write mem)
Reboot

You will have to reset the switch and intercept the boot into ROMON mode, then load the config file and change the console password, wright the mem and reload.

Can't console cisco catalyst 3500

It's possible that the management port is on another VLAN or is not enabled. Your most reliable bet is to try a serial connection to console in.

Alternatively, there is a procedure that will work even if you don't know the password:

Lucent Cajun not talking to cisco catalyst

Not sure what Cat switches you have, but the cajun switch must use the same trunking encapsulation. Older catalyst switches use ISL trunking which only work with Cisco switches. Make the port between the lucent and cisco dot1q encapsulation on the cisco trunk port. Also turn on debugging on the cisco and see what messages are generated.

Vivitek Qumi Q5-RD turns off after a few seconds. When I plug in the qumi and press the power button it makes two beeps and then the lamp turns on and displays the qumi logo. After that the lamp and the button lights turn off, but the fan is still running and blowing air. There are no blinking lights.

By reset, do you mean reboot? if so type reload
