Question about Kenmore 14.8 cu. ft. / 419 liter Chest Freezer 13541
My integrated freezer is warm to touch on the outside and on top the granite work top feels warm too. Is this ok? The inside is still frozen.

it should be warm to the touch but not so hot you cant. and also depending on how long the freezer is running and how warm it is where the freezer is will effect how hot the outside is. the reason the outside of the freezer is hot is because thats how the freezer releses its heat from the refrigerant. the longer it runs or the harder it has to work the more heat it has to hive off. so unless the freezer is not cooling there is nothing to worry about.

first whirlpool makes a good product as far as the sides being hot good sign the condensing coils are in the sides are supposed to be hot worry if its running and they are cold then not working right ok as far as running modern units useing 134a do have long run times but are not using but same enegry as 100watt light bulb otay

I have a stand up freezer and mine feels warm to the touch as well could be because of the ice forming inside i would say as long as it is working not to worry over it regards Jim

Hi, The walls are getting hot because that is where the condesor coils are. The condensor coils are where the heat is disperst that is trap as the coolant pumps through the evaporator coils inside. The fact that it is holding 0 degrees is a good sign. Is this freezer in a garage?
Check the door seals to make sure no heat is getting into the freezer other then when the door is opened.
I hope this helps you. Please let me know if I can assist you further.
