My tiller runs great but wheels will not turn forward or backward. It is a craftsman rear tiller

The drive belt going from the motor to the gearbox may have broken or come off.

Tillers will turn but drive wheels will not engage. Noise can be heard.

Sounds like the drive gears are either stripped or the drive belt may be loose and rubbing, just not catching.

I need to replace drive belt, how do i do it? its a craftsman model 135202, 5 horsepower rear tines.

From my searching the model tiller you have is #917.295352.
Go to You can put in the model number and it will show different areas for parts. The owner's manual is part # 152999 and the belt is # 9180R. The belt guard comes off you replace the belt and put the guard back on. If you need to take pictures or draw some diagrams to keep things straight.
Good day.

Rotertiller drive belt

For these applications it is best to use a factory belt. However the belt is 1/2" wide 59" long.

Help, new craftsman rear tine tiller stopped tilling.

It sounds like the belt just stretched. Now you need to move the belt tensioner over to put more pressure on it.

Sears tiller/shifted to reverse and it trams in reverse, but it's stuck. I would be willing to teardown the trans. if i had to. tiller model 917-293480 Thanks, Yucon

it sounds like to me then gears or of in tiller you will probably have to tear it down to get to it. I had to do that once on a sears tiller it is a pain but can be done when u tear it down u mine as well change the chain or belt inside while u have it apart u can go on sears web site and get a diagram that shows how everything goes together might want to have it handy when u tera it down

Craftsman 6.5 tiller model 486.252444

Not sure about this tiller but some others just need oil in the crankcase - tillers tend to lose oil because of the harsh conditions they work under. If you hear squeaking down their it might be a good idea to check it out.
