Question about Brinks Locks & Locksmithing
I bought a brinks 2 pack keyed alike padlocks at walmart last month. 2 keys were provided. i need 3 more keys. i have checked with local walmart twiceto make keys. they made one that will not open the locks. lowes in greenville, texas made 3 keys, none will work. home depot in greenville made 1 key, will not work. local lumber yard does not have correct blank, they made 1 key, will not work. the 2 locks were around 10.00$ . brass with /////brinks stamped on each side.thenumbers stamped on the keys are 2658. can you send to me 3 keys or 3 blanks? my mailing address is meredith epperson, 1132 robin lane, west tawakoni, texas. 75474. my mail comes through quinlan, texas p. o. zip75474. my email address is firstname.lastname@example.org.
I think a local locksmith would either be able to make the keys or give you a reason why keys can not be made for your locks. Look up 'locksmith' in your local yellow pages.

The problem you are having has nothing to do with your lock. Modern key cutting machines are so automated that they do a very poor job in key duplication. I suggest that you find an old hardware store that has an older key machine. Or possibly, it might be cheaper to simply replace the lock set. A new Kwikset keyed entry sells for about $40.00 for a lever handle. Remember to have extra keys cut at the store when you purchase the lock...so you can check the duplicates in the store. I do this at Home Depot regularly. They have a new machine, but with the lock right there, they can manage to cut some duplicates after a few bad ones.
Hope This Helps,

I have just experienced the same problem. After 4 calls and an hour on hold, a warranty representative is going to send me replacement cylinders. I am not happy since 3 of the 4 locksets are already installed. My wife and daughter were locked out for 3 hours!!! Would not recommend this product!

The lock is bad very common problem with them, If you got 2-3 years out of your "smartkey" lock those things are like dinosaurs most of them don't make it 3 months and this problem happens. Get the traditional pin tumbler version of the Kwikset lock and this will never happen again. Plus it will be an easy swop out since they use the same latch.
