Question about Panasonic KX-T7630 Corded Phone

Open Question

How can I connect a background music source to Panasonic KX-T7630 phone?

I'm finding many ways to turn the hold (background music) on or off but I'm still having trouble as to where I connect a music source to the phone? Is this something a user can do or does a phone technician need to wire it in? We also have TVM5200 Voicemail unit connected. Not sure if that helps. Any help is greatly appreciated.

SOURCE: kx-t7630 product spport

This is how I did it:
1. Press the 'Program' button 2. Then dial ** (star, star) 3. Enter the password (usually 1234) 4. Press 'Next' until you get to 'Ext Name' 5. Press 'Enter' 6. You will need to know the Extension Number of you phone, when you find out enter it (eg: 104 or whatever yours is) 7. Press 'Clear' to get rid of the old name then start entering the new name via the number keys. Note: If you keep cycling through the letter on each number you can get to lowercase or uppercase letters. 8. Press 'Enter' then you are all done... pick and hang up the handset.

SOURCE: How to change the incomming ring tone on panasonic kx-t7630

Oh hell... you must be going nuts if its the ring tone I think you're stuck with. I loath the manual that comes with this system so here it is in English:

  • Press 'Prog'
  • Press 'Intercom' twice
  • Now you can either go through the different ring tones by pressing 'SEL' on the LCD screen or using the Up and Down keys on the circular pad on the bottom right of the phone.
  • Once you have the tone you like click on 'Enter'
  • Pick up handset and hangup to complete the process.

How do I connect a background music source to Panasonic KX-T7630 phones?

The Music On Hold (MOH) is not connected on the KX-T7630 Phone but rather to the phone system. You will need to get an extension from the phone system and connect it to the KX-TVM50/200 Voice Processing System (VPS). Incoming calls are then answered by the extension connected to the VPS ... i sugest you get a Tech to help you with setup or get an online programmer to guide you on hardware setup and he does the programming for you.

I want to turn off the background ground music

There are two ways to turn it on and off, one is by PROG 650 (651 turning it on) and STORE, or the quickest way, from the intercom dial *7510 (11 turning it on).

We'd like to have background music when callers are on hold. We have only the Quick Reference Guide, which tells you to 'input a parameter' - what is this parameter? Thanks

Music on hold requires programming and a music source plugged into the system cabinet. If you don't have a set of manuals and MOH by default, you need to acquire a set of manuals and access to the installer portion of system programming.

I suggest you contact your Panasonic dealer.

We have plugged the radio source into the MOH port and it is still playing the merry-go-round on hold music. How do we get it to play the radio if its already plugged in?

If you find the phone that has access to programming, (may be extension 101) you will have to get to program 711 and change the MOH source. Also read 710 and 712 for other controls for transfer and background music.

Before you ask and/or give a bad rating, it's beyond the scope of a public forum to post passwords and programming access.

We have a panasonic kx-t7630 and our background mucic is horrible. how do we change it to something else or to the radio

Is it horrible because you own the business, or are you just an employee who doesn't like the promotion on hold?

Playing the radio as BGM with only a single source is illegal unless you pay royalties. Your boss may want the customers to hear what he as to say. Your radio listening pleasure isn't his concern.

If you have a TDA100 or higher system, there are 2 music sources. With luck, you can put a radio on MOH-2, and dial *7512 to hear it. If not, then dial *7510 and don't listen to anything.

We would like to change the music / sound that callers hear when we put them on hold

Somewhere on the cabinet the phones plug into is a port labeled MOH or MOH 1. This is where the music source plugs into. This source could be a radio, CD player, or probably an ON HOLD player.

You can buy the music files and voice tracks and make your own hold music, you could even commercially license XM or Sirius radio and insert it on the system.

If you need more help, please comment back and I can give you some ideas to help you find music sources.

Can I change the on-hold music ??

The on hold music comes from something plugged into the TDA cabinet in the back room. Sure you can change it, but you have to find it first.

Such sources can be an On Hold device from Intellinet, A Premier box, or maybe a Nel Tech box or simply just a radio or CD player.

Once you identify what you have, post back here and someone can talk you through sources to change the message.

Change background music when hold button is pushed

Your system will have an input for music. You may have something attached already and so that would need to be changed to what you want. OR you may be using a built-in internal tune. Usually connecting an external source will over-ride any internal music automatically but it may need to be changed in programming. If you connect a new external music system, you can use just about any music device with the right cable. Just make sure it is line-level input (low volume - not amplified) or you can break the music circuit.
