Why won't my NX300 power off?

My NX300 will not power off. The Samsung logo continues to flash on the screen and the auto focus continually rotates. I removed the battery for 12 hours and no help. Any suggestions??

OMG it sooooo matters who you get when you call Samsung for technical support!! i have been trying to fix my NX300 for over a year with this same issue, ready to throw it out cuz it wouldn't shut off and i couldn't use it. I got Joshua on the phone finally, (as others told me to mail in the camera and pay $190 for a fix with no guarantee)... Joshua walked me thru the update whcih was NOT easy to do. I'm happy to help anyone of you with the same issue - you have to first install the update to your camera, but then you have to open that update from the camera device and UPDATE from that point - both the firmware and bodyware. The bodyware update was the one that fixed the issue. And you must select that as the update, the camera will not find it automatically! Please reply if you need assistance. I am soooo super happy i got Joshua on the line today! Thank you Joshua!!

SOURCE: red light continually flashes, and won't take picture

Set the camera to anything except no flash. Turn it off. Take out the battery. Wait 5-10 seconds. Put the battery back in. The flash should now work until you turn the camera off again (and then you must remove/replace the battery to get the flash working again).

The flash requires some kind of "master reset" to work. Haven't found a permanent solution to this.

The manual specifically states that you can put the AF marker over something with some contrast, half press the shutter, so that it will focus, hold the shutter button halfway while you recompose the shot, and then press it all the way. This camera will not auto focus with mechanically driven lenses. It will only AF with "AF-S" or "AF-I" lenses.

SOURCE: Pentax K100D will not power up

First make sure you are using fresh lithium batteries. These cameras indicate low batteries quite early on. Rechargeables even when freshly charged are marginal.

If the problem persists remove the batteries. Set the camera switch to the off position. Set the focus switch to manual. Wait at least a minute. Then replace the batteries and switch on again.

Operating with low batteries can confuse the firmware and it may be stuck in a low-battery loop. If this is the case this should reset the camera by allowing the electronics to power-down completely.

If this does not work you wiil have to contact pentax support.

When the camera is set to C-AF (Continuous Auto Focus) mode the focus is continually aligned according to movement of subject or the camera even when shutter button is not pressed. The Continuous Auto Focus (C-AF) is disabled while the camera is zooming in and out. Once the camera stops zooming the CAF is initiated and the cameras focus is adjusted.
This is actually used for video.
