Question about Whirlpool Microwave Ovens
My whirlpool gold microwave starts, lights up, but won't heat anything (ice cubes stay frozen after 2 minutes). Is there a guide to replacing the door switch
It's not door switch. It's the microwaves are not being produced. Do to safety issues DO NOT take apart. Replace

This is usually caused by either a bad door switch, a loose door switch mount, or a problem on the control panel.
Even though a door switch clicks, it may still be bad inside. Its continuity must be checked.
Door switch or mount trouble can be caused by slamming the door or by opening the door while it's cooking without hitting the Stop pad first.

There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control
panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very
helpful when troubleshooting, & testing.
At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.
You can download Whirlpool owner's manuals and installation instructions (very handy when removing the oven form the wall for parts replacement) here.

It sounds like there may be a diode or relay on the control that has failed. This could cause both symptoms you are explaining here. In either case the control board/keymembrane would need replaced. The cost of these would be about $173.00 for parts. Unfortunatly this repair would most likely cost more than the value of the product. Sorry for the bad news.
