Sounds like you need to think about buying another laptop. Or replacing the LCD screen. Search ebay or amazon for screens.

My Toshiba M55 Laptop has a vertical 'ribbon' of flickering. Is it fixable?

Maybe your screen is going bad or the video card inside the computer is going bad. Try connecting another monitor to the computer to isolate the problem. Borrow a monitor from a neighbor, friend, relative or co-worker and connect it to the computer. If the Borrowed monitor displays ok without the vertical ribbon then your lcd screen is bad and your video card is good. If the Borrowed monitor displays the same vertical ribbon as your lcd screen then your video card inside the computer has an issue.

The video will show on most systems when you reboot without you having to do anything. Some systems will require you to hit the FN (Function key) + F1 thru F12. Hold down the FN key then hit the correct key for displaying on the monitor (F1 thru F12). The correct key will normally have CRT/LCD on it or it will have the icon of a display.

How do i fix a flickering screen problem of my HP Compaq 6735s laptop

The flickering could be a sign that your lcd screen is going bad and needs to be replaced. It could also be the video card inside the computer. Isolate the problem by connecting another monitor to the laptop. Borrow a monitor from a neighbor, friend, relative or co-worker and connect it to the laptop. If the Borrowed monitor displays ok without flickering, then your video card inside the computer is good, but your lcd screen is bad. If the Borrowed monitor flickers like your lcd screen did, then your video card inside the computer is bad.

Plug in an external monitor and see if the display shows up on it. It can be any kind of monitor even the old big fat crt monitors as long as it has a vga cable to connect to your computer's vga port. If so that proves your video card is ok.

Try tapping the back of the lcd screen's lid to see if the flickering stops, increases or decreases. It might be that the lcd cable located at the top on the back of the lcd screen is loose.Isolate the problem by connecting another monitor to the computer. You'll have to take the lcd apart to get to the video cable on the back of it.

If your problem is the screen of the laptop being upside down, please try to press CTRL+ALT+Up Arrow Key or Down Arrow Key, after you see some flashing or flickering on the screen restart the computer.
Sometimes you need to login first on the computer then press the key combination i mentioned then it should fix the problem.
Hope this helps. Glad to be of service.

I bought a new Dell Pc and I keep getting flashes in the upper left hand corner. How do I get rid of this? Thanks

When you say flashes, is it like portion of the screen flickers?

If the flickering/flashes starts in Dell screen just right after turning on the laptop, when you see the Windows logo or just right after you log in to windows?

Try connecting your laptop to an external monitor then toggle display. To toggle the display to external monitor you can try holding down keys such as the function keys.

If the problem persist from the external monitor it means the problem is the motherboard or the video/graphics card.

If no problem from the external monitor this means laptop LCD and LCD cable needs to be replaced.

Hope this helps.

When I switch on my maxdata eco 4011 iw, I can

Most laptops have a plug for an external monitor. Plug one up and if it doesn't work, it is your integrated video, if it does work, then it is your screen, or the cable going to the screen. Did it flicker when you moved the screen? That's the answer between cable and screen.

There is also a screen switch. There is a blue FN key by your ctrl & Alt button on your keyboard, then someone on F4 or F5 keys is a picture of a screen [ ] hold the FN key and press that F key and see if the screen comes on. Some times it get stuck in the wrong mode.

Please leave good feedback if this worked for you.

The screen flickers periodically without any reason. If i giggle the screen or pull the screen down the up it staops.

Hi

The flickering happens because the flex of your laptop is getting weak.

The flex connects the screen of a laptop to the motherboard it is through it that data is passed to the screen.

It is found in all laptops and the more you open and close the laptop,it gets weaker and weaker.

The best thing to do to stop the flickering is to change the flex. You can also loose the laptop, remove the flex and fix it back properly but that may not stop the flickering permanently.

Note;if you cant loose the laptop yourself please get an expert to do it for you

I have a HP dv9700 and I think my laptop's motherboard is crewed, everytime i turn it on, the screen flickers, or it'll work for about 5-10 minutes then it starts flickering. Any help?

It could be the lamp. To trouble shoot this I would power on the laptop (and if the laptop stays powered on while the screen goes off) then connect an lcd/ monitor directly to your laptop. In order for you to change the screen image from the laptop to the monitor you will have to hold down the FN key and tap on the key thata has 2 monitors on it. This should be located on one of your F-Keys. For example on my laptop it's F5. If your image pops up on your monitor then its most likely your lamp or it can even be the laptops lcd screen inverter. Either way it can be repaired. The lamp replacement is the cheapest and easiest.

When I turn on my computer, the screen stays black

You may have a defective CCFL backlight, it may have the following symptom: Screen flashs on red/pink and off. Picture stays on in red and slowly be come normal. Picture flickering with dim display or appear black. Picture flickering on and off. All these symptoms indicate that the LCD backlight lamp (CCFL Lamp) has reached the end of the life and all you need to do is replacing the CCFL lamp.
Connect an external monitor to your laptop and power the monitor up first then the laptop, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight. Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight and it could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out or burnt out, most likely this is the case.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.
