SOURCE: know how to put the ice bin latch and spring back together

I had the same problem. When you put the spring back on the little arm towards the button, use a mini screwdriver or something to pull the spring back and pop the latch part back in the indented spots. Then, it will seem stuck but you just put some pressure on the curved side of the latch - opposite from the button and it will "pop" back into place.

How do i change the car key batteries?

Disassembling and assembling hand-held transmitter

NOTE: The top part of the hand-held transmitter is carefully lifted off with the fingernail or a small screwdriver.

Removing key from the bottom part

  1. In order to remove the key from the bottom part, the compression spring in the sliding latch is compressed and held with a small screwdriver.

  1. Lift out the cap and relieve the compression spring.
  2. Push the sliding latch back and pull the key out of the bottom part.
Installation

  1. Insert replacement key into the bottom part.
  2. Install sliding latch and compression spring. Compress and hold compression spring using a small screwdriver.
  3. Insert the cap from above and relieve the compression spring.
  4. Press the top and bottom parts of the hand-held transmitter together firmly.

What is a replacement part number for the ice maker tray 197D2303?

Hello BeckJeff, I believe that your fridge has the built-in ice maker and water dispenser and as such, only accumulates ice cubes in the ice maker's integral ice bin or as they call it, the ice bucket.

According to the parts list for the PSS26MSR series of refridgerators, the ice bucket and auger are supplied as a complete subassembly.

The part number is WR17X11447 and you can get ordered through any GE appliance dealer or online from several sources of your choice. If you have difficulty getting the part, you can also order it directly from searspartsdirect.com.

The approximate retail price for this should be $165.00 or less, again, depending on where you order it from.

I would suggest you confirm that this is the correct replacement part for your specific fridge model, before you order the part, so you're certain you receive exactly what you are seeking. You can call the folks at sears, toll free, to confirm the part. They can be reached at 1-800-252-1698.

I hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

Dyson DC07 Clear Bin Flap will not release

I just received my replacement root cyclone in the mail today after waiting in the back-ordered status for three months. I positioned a butter knife in between the rubber gasket on the bottom flap lid and the bottom rim of the clear bin at the farthest point from the hinge and slowly and gently wiggled the knife between until the bottom flap just fell open. I examined the rubber gasket and it survived without injury and the bottom flap seals without any gaps...good luck

Bottom of dirt container doesn't stay closed

The catch/latch that is on the bottom of the bin button release has likely broken.
If you take out the canister (as when you are dumping the bin), and flip it upside down and then squeeze the bin release button, you will see that it moves a rod inside the cyclone assembly.  At the end of this rod is a plastic (plastic.. redundant, as the entire Dyson is practically plastic) latch that catches onto the bin's lid and locks it in place.  A broken latch means it doesn't lock the lid in.
What you need is a replacement latch.  Note that the "Bin Release Button + Rod assembly" that are sometimes sold on ebay do *not* contain the latch at the end of the rod.  Also the bottom bin assembly does not contain the required parts.
The cyclone assembly should have the full bin release rod + latch, so if you can't find the latch, then a new cyclone assembly would work also (but will cost more, obviously).

Door Latch has broken plastic tab

The door latch assembly comes as one piece. It would actually be much simpler to purchase the new latch and replace the whole assembly instead of trying to put pieces and parts back inside a latch that may or may not work after all your hard effort. If you decide to replace the latch, follow these steps: 1. Unplug the machine. 2. Remove the lower kick plate panel if you like (this can help you reach the latch from a couple of different angles). 3. Open door and feel around the rubber door boot for a wire hoop. At the bottom of the door open is a tension spring. Pull the spring apart and remove the wire hoop from the groove. 4. Gently lift the rubber boot from the groove around the door opening and push inside the machine so you can access the inside of the casing. 5. The door latch assembly is located inside the case on the right-hand side. There should be a couple of wire connectors going to it (remember how they come off). Be careful with the wires, they are small and can break. 6. Unplug the wire connectors and remove the three screws holding the latch in place from the outside of the casing. 7. There should also be a plastic retainer holding the latch in place. Remove latch from retainer. 8. Install new door latch by placing it in the plastic retainer, first. 9. Plug wires connectors in. 10. Re-install the three door latch screws. 11. Re-install rubber door boot around the door opening. Make sure it is properly seated in the groove. 12. Reinsert wire hoop. starting at the top of the door opening, carefully push the wire hoop into the groove and work your way all the way around the bottom where the tension spring would be. (A second set of hands to hold the wire hoop in replace would be handy at this point). 13. Pull tension spring apart and snap into groove. Done. Hopefully this will take care of your problems. Of course, you may not like the idea of having to purchase a whole new door latch assembly, or the effort required to remove and replace. But, it sure beats trying to rebuild the old one. I hope this helps.
