Paper goes part way in then stops. printer continues to run but paper does not go through


Hello,Follow the steps below:
Step one: Remove any loose paperRemove any loose paper from the input tray.
caution.pngCAUTION:Do not remove jammed paper at this stage.Step two: Clear the jam from the back of the printer
  1. Press the Resume button (c01324470.gif ) on the front panel of the product. If the paper jam does not clear, then follow the remaining instructions.
  2. Press the Power button (c01345237.gif ) to turn off the product.
  3. Unplug the power cord from the back of the product.
  4. Remove the rear access door.Press the handle to the right, and then pull out the door.Figure 1: Remove the rear access doorc01427255.gif
  5. Gently pull the paper out of the rollers.
    caution.pngCAUTION:If the paper tears when removing it from the rollers, then check the rollers and wheels for torn pieces of paper that might remain inside the device. If any torn pieces of paper remain inside the device, then more paper jams are likely to occur.
Step three: Clean the rollersWhile the rear door is removed from the product, clean the paper rollers.
  1. Wipe the paper rollers with a lint-free cloth that is lightly moistened with distilled or bottled water.Rotate the rollers with your fingers to clean all the way around.Figure 2: Cleaning the paper rollersc00246512.jpg
  2. Allow the rollers to dry completely.

Step four: Open the top cover and clear the jam

  2. Gently pull the paper out of the rollers.

  4. Plug the power cord back into the product.
  5. Press the Power button (c01345237.gif ) to turn the product on.
Step five: Reload paper and test the printerAfter removing any jammed paper, make sure the product is functioning correctly by reloading paper and testing the product.

  2. Slide the input tray paper-width guide to the left and load a stack of plain white paper in the input tray.Figure 7: Adjust paper guide and load paperc01423755.gif
  3. Slide the paper-width guide to the right until it rests, snugly, against the stack of paper.
  4. Lower the output tray and pull out the tray extension.Figure 8: Pull out the tray extensionc01423756.gif
  5. Print a diagnostic page.
    1. Press and hold the Power button (c01345237.gif ).
    2. While holding the Power button (c01345237.gif ), press and hold the Cancel button (c01235250.gif ), and then release both buttons.
    3. The product prints a diagnostic page.
    • If the page prints successfully, the issue is resolved.
    • If the issue is not resolved and another jam occurs, continue to the next step.
Step six: Service the printerIf you have completed all the preceding steps and are still experiencing a problem, service the product.Thank You.

Follow the instructions below to install the print cartridges for the first time. Installing print cartridges Step one: Install the print cartridges Follow these steps to install the cartridges.
  1. Open the cartridge door. The carriage moves to the far right side of the product. Figure 1: Open the cartridge doorc01133347.jpg
  2. Remove the new cartridge from its packaging and, being careful to touch onlythe black plastic, gently remove the plastic tape by using the pink pull tab. Figure 2: Remove tape from cartridgec01107115.jpg 1 - Copper-colored contacts 2 - Plastic tape with pink pull tab (must be removed before installing) 3 - Ink nozzles under tape CAUTION: Do not touch the cartridge ink nozzles or copper contacts. Touching these parts will result in clogs, ink failure, and bad electrical connections.Do not remove the copper strips. They are required electrical contacts.   3. Slide each new cartridge forward into the empty slot. Then gently push theupper part of the cartridge forward until it clicks into place.
    • Insert the tri-color cartridge into the left slot.
    • Insert the black cartridge into the right slot.

  4. Close the cartridge door.
Step two: : Align the print cartridge The product prompts you to align cartridges every time you install a cartridge. You can also align the cartridges at any time from the control panel, or byusing the software you install with the product. Aligning the cartridgesensures high quality output.
  1. Make sure you have letter or A4 unused plain white paper loaded in the input tray.
  2. Press OK. The product prints an alignment page.
  3. Place the alignment page print-side down on the scanner glass.
  4. Press OK to scan the alignment page. When the scan finishes, the alignment is complete.

NOTE: If you have colored paper loaded in the input tray when you align the cartridges, the alignment will fail. Load unused plain white paper into the inputtray, and then try the alignment again.

Wont grip paper on feed, keeps 'saying' paperjam


I have had this problem after printing a large batch of sheets on a heavy matte photo paper. The roller picks up a 'polish' from the surface coating and then fails to grip. I have tried cleaning the roller, with some sucess, but the best solution I have found is to feed through several blank sheets (just page throws in a Word document) of a ordinary 80 gram paper. Doing this between smaller batches of the photo printing seems to keep things flowing.

Step one: Turn the All-in-One off and on again
Press the On button ( ) to turn the product off.
Press the On button ( ) again to turn the product on.
If the error message is not resolved, continue to the next step.
Step two: Clear any paper jam
Follow these instructions to clear a paper jam.
CAUTION: All paper jams must be removed from the back of the product through the rear access door. Pulling the paper from the front of the product rotates the paper feed roller in the wrong direction and can damage the product.
Turn off the product and unplug the power cord.
Turn the product around to access the back of the product.
Open the rear access door:
Locate the tab on the left side of the door and press it toward the right. The door will shift slightly to the right.
As the door shifts to the right, pull the door out slightly to release.
When the door is released, gently remove the door by sliding the door out and to the left.

From the rear access opening, gently pull the jammed paper out of the rollers.
NOTE: If the paper tears when you are removing it from the rollers, check the rollers and wheels for torn pieces of paper that might be remaining inside the product. If all the pieces of paper are not removed from the product, more paper jams are likely to occur.
Replace the rear access door:
Insert the two posts on the right of the door into the holes on the right side of the opening.
Press the tab on the left side of the door toward the right. The door will shift slightly to the right.
As the door shifts to the right, push in the left side of the door to lock it into position.
Reconnect the power cord and turn the product on.
If the error message is not resolved, continue to the next step.
Step three: Make sure that the print carriage can move freely
Follow these instructions to make sure the print carriage can move freely.
With the product turned on, open the print cartridge access door. The print carriage might try to move into the access area. If so, allow it to move to that position.
Without turning off the product, unplug the power cord from the back of the product. Unplug the power cord from the power source. The power cord must be unplugged to allow the parts to be moved by hand and to reset the paper feed mechanism, without the risk of an electrical shock.
Looking in through either the print cartridge access door or the output paper tray, make sure the print cartridges are locked into the carriage and have not come loose. Also, make sure that there are no obstructions under or around the carriage to block it from moving.
Make sure the print carriage can move freely across the width of the product by gently pushing the carriage to the left and then to the right. Clear any obstructions found.
You may have to reach through the output paper tray to access the print carriage.
Close the print cartridge access door and plug the power cord back to the back of the product. Plug the power cord into the power source.
Press the On button to turn on the product.
If the error message is not resolved, continue to the next step.
Step four: Remove the print cartridges
Improper placement or installation of the print cartridges can cause a carriage stall error condition. Follow these instructions to remove the print cartridges.
Make sure the printer is turned on.
Open the print cartridge access door, and then wait until the print carriage is idle and silent.

Press down lightly on the end of each print cartridge to release it.
The tri-color print cartridge is on the left.
The black or photo print cartridge is on the right.

Slide both cartridges out and place them on a clean sheet of paper.
CAUTION: Do not touch the ink nozzles or copper-colored contacts. Touching these parts could result in clogs, ink failure, and bad electrical connections. Do not remove the copper strips. They are required electrical contacts.

Disconnect the power cord.
Move the carriage all the way to the left with your hand.
Close the print cartridge access door.
Reconnect the power cord.
Turn the product on, if necessary.
If the error message is resolved, the placement of the print cartridges caused the problem. Complete Step five: Reinstall the print cartridges. There is no need to complete any steps after Step five.
If the error message is not resolved, complete Step five: Reinstall the print cartridges, and then continue with the subsequent steps.
Step five: Reinstall the print cartridges
Follow these instructions to reinstall the print cartridges.
NOTE: Make sure the cartridges are compatible. Compatible cartridges are listed in the product Users Guide and in the Printer Toolbox software.
Make sure the product is turned on, and then install the proper print cartridges:
Hold the print cartridge so that the nozzles are down and the contacts face toward the printer.
Place the cartridge in front of the correct slot.
Tri-color cartridges are marked with a triangle and go into the left carriage slot.
Black cartridges are marked with a square or pentagon and go into the right carriage slot.

Push the cartridge firmly into the slot until it snaps into place.

Close the print cartridge access door.
Align the print cartridges.
Press OK at each of the prompts on the control panel to start print cartridge alignment.
NOTE: The cartridge alignment might take a few minutes.
After the page prints, alignment is complete.
Try the print job again to see if this step resolved the issue.
If the error message is not resolved, continue to the next step.
Step six: Make sure the control-panel faceplate is correctly installed
If the front panel faceplate (overlay) is already installed, and your product has been working for some time, do not attempt to re-install the faceplate. Press firmly on the faceplate to make sure it is fully seated, and then continue to Step seven: Plug the product directly into a wall outlet.
If the product has not been set up before, follow these instructions to make sure the front panel faceplate is correctly installed.
Position the control panel faceplate above the product.

Press down firmly on all edges of the faceplate to secure it.

Try the print job again to see if this step resolved the issue.
If the error message is not resolved, continue to the next step.
Step seven: Plug the All-in-One directly into a wall outlet
Follow these instructions to make sure that the product is properly connected to a suitable power source.
Make sure that the computer and the product have a three-prong power plug.
Unplug the power cable from the back of the product.
Unplug the product cable from any power strips or surge suppressors, and plug it directly into a grounded (three-prong) wall outlet.
Plug the power cable into the back of the product.
Try the print job again to see if this step resolved the issue.
If the error message is resolved, you do not need to continue with the rest of the instructions on this page.
NOTE: If the product prints when plugged directly into a wall outlet while unplugged from any power strips or surge suppressors, the power strip or surge suppressor may not be allowing sufficient voltage to reach the product.
If the error message is not resolved, continue to the next step.
Step eight: Perform a partial reset
Follow these instructions to perform a partial reset of the product.
Turn the product off by pressing the On ( ) button.
Unplug the power cord from the back of the product.
Plug the power cord back into the product.
Turn the product on by pressing the On ( ) button.
If the error message is not resolved, continue to the next step.
Step nine: Print a self-test page
Follow these instructions to print a self-test page.
Load letter, A4, or legal unused plain white paper into the paper tray.
Press the Setup ( ) button until Print Report appears, and then press the OK button. Self-Test Report appears on the control panel display.
Press the OK button.
The product prints a self-test report.
If the error message is not resolved, continue to the next step.
Step ten: Service the All-in-One
If you have completed all the steps listed above and are still experiencing a problem, service the product.
