Question about KitchenAid Food Mixers
Posted by Anonymous on
That is usually the bowl lock plate, or possibly the grooves on the bowl. Usually we would recommend replacing the bowl lock plate to start, and if that doesn't solve the problem then you should replace the bowl.
However the Accolade models were produced for a very short time, and have been discontinued. For whatever reason KitchenAid made the bowl lock plate and the bowl different than that on a regular tilt head mixer. As of about November KitchenAid has discontinued both the bowl and the lock plate that will work with your mixer and there is no replacement.
I would use the mixer until it because un-useable and then you will have to either make the KitchenAid Mixer Bowl Lock Plate 4163032 and the KitchenAid 5 Quart Stainless Steel Bowl work on yours which would require a modification of the bowl lock plate or replace the mixer.

I know this sounds a bit simple but the bowl cup can sometimes actually wear out and a very fast (# screws) and a new one and the problem is solved. If however there is a problem on the head hold down set screw (under the mixer in the cavity ) it can come loose then the mixer head can bounce all over the place causung the bowl to get loose in the holding cup at the base of the mixer., I hope this helps, let us know if you need more, we can FixYa
