The strange thing is, in the manual it tells me to adjust the pressure of the presser foot to do appliqu? with the blanket stitch. No where in the manual does it explain how to do this. Yup I am confused.

Your model doesn't have this feature Janome 7100QDC Computerized Sewing Machine , it it did, there would be a knob on the top left of the machine above the presser foot which you could screw up or down to increase or decrease the pressure. Its not a feature on many machines, the presser foot bar has a big spring internally which applies the pressure and this will just adjust to suit the fabric under the foot.

really? that's strange. I would change to a clear presser foot with a big cut out area, my Janome 1600 has a foot like this

applique is pretty easy, just make sure you've got a tear away stabiliser on the underside to give some support and machine embroidery thread is best as it has a nice sheen when doing lots of close together stitching.

SOURCE: How to adjust the tension

You are not actually able to adjust the presser foot. For quilting you should pick up a "free motion" foot pedal made specifically for that. They run on e-bay for roughly $10-$20. Make sure you get one that fits your type of machine.

SOURCE: faulty presser foot lifter on a singer 2110/2112.

I have seen these machines with broken presser bar clamps (something inside the head). If it is just a bind then some oil on the presser bar may work, if the clamp is broken then it is probably not worth fixing.
Good luck!

SOURCE: MC 11000 janome stops reading presser foot "p"

This is a relatively easy adjustment as I just did one last week but I'm not sure I can explain it. Anyway, open up the lamp cover and look at the top of the presser bar. There is a sensor that is easily adjusted. It has a small phillips screw that you need to loosen. Then move the black 'L' shaped piece either up or down a little (I can't remember which way) and re-tighten the screw, you may need to experiment. The 'L' shaped piece is a flag that goes between two sensors when the foot is raised and can be rotated left and right about 10 degrees. I hope that helps.

How can I release the pressure of the pressure foot so that I can do darning? My machine is a Janome Model 360. Thank you

If you are using the appropriate presser foot, you normally shouldn't need to adjust the presser foot pressure. The shaft on a darning foot or free motion quilting foot is shorter so when it is lowered to stitching position, the foot will not rest on the feed dogs or stitch plate. The extra space between the presser foot and the plate allows you to maneuver the fabric. (Be sure to drop the feed dogs so they do not interfere with the fabric's movement. Or, if the feed dogs do not drop on your machine, you should have a special plate in your accessory kit that covers the feed dogs.)

My janome 9700 won’t push the weight of a weighted blanket to sew

You may need to help the machine. Don't forcefully pull or push, but just make sure it is not pulling against the weight of the fabric. It helps to make sure the fabric is slightly crumpled loosely in front of the presser foot. You may also need to adjust the presser foot pressure (if your machine has that capability--see your manual). A walking foot or teflon foot may also help the fabric through the machine. If it is an older machine or has seen a lot of use, the feed dog tips may be worn.

I need instuctions on using different presser foot for ja nome schoolmate

Please add a comment with the specific model of Janome Schoolmate sewing machine.

Fpr the Janome Schoolmate S-3015, make sure that the needle is fully up and raise the presser foot. Then press the red button on the back of the presser foot holder to have that foot drop off. Set the pressure dial to 3 before attaching the new presser foot. For snap-on feet, align the pin of the presser foot (the horizontal bar in the middle of the foot) under the presser foot holder. Lower the presser foot holder (using the presser foot height lever) until it locks onto the foot.

For the zipper foot, you need to fit the rear pin on the foot into groove at the back of the presser foot holder. Then lower the presser foot holder onto the zipper foot.

These are shown on page 11 (14 of the PDF) of the manual. You can download the manual here: http://janome.com/en/machines/sewing/schoolmate-s-3015/ . The direct link to the manual is http://janome.com/siteassets/support/manuals/school-models/schoolmate3015.pdf .

For the S-7330, you need to again raise the needle and the presser foot. Press the lever towards (it moves slightly up, not down) the presser foot holder. Then line up the pin on the foot under the presser foot holder and lower the presser foot holder onto the foot so that it locks. This is also in that sewing machine's manual, here: http://janome.com/siteassets/support/manuals/school-models/inst-book-s-7330esf.pdf . See page 14 (18 of the PDF).

I hope this helps.

No knob to adjust presser foot pressure. Space between feed dogs & presser foot is too tight to pull a piece of fabric out with foot down. Diagonal seams get pushed out.

You should not be able to pull fabric from the machine when the presser foot is down. The presser foot should always be raised before removing the fabric.

Are you trying to darn or quilt something without the feed dogs activated? If so, there are special presser feet for that purpose that are shorter in height (ie darning foot) which allow more space between the presser foot and the stitch plate so the fabric can be moved freely.

Pressure foot won't stay up

The presser foot lift lever on many newer janome sewing machines will wear out with use. It can easily be replaced by a sewing machine repair shop or Janome dealer. Or you can look online for a "presser foot lifter" or "presser foot lift lever" making sure to find the correct one for your machine.

The top spool of thread jams tight when I pull the

It sounds like the tension setting is too tight. The tension mechanism consists of two metal disks; the thread runs between these disks. When the pressure foot is down, the disks come together, trapping the thread between them. When the pressure foot is up, the disks separate and the thread can flow freely. (BTW, this is why you adjust the tension with the pressure foot down.)

Take a look at your tension setting and try loosening it. That should resolve the problem.

Let me know if this helps, ok?
