Question about Sony KP-46WT510 46" Rear Projection HDTV
I have a Sony 52inch television model #KP-53V25. Yes it is old but very good to me. This was my first "widescreen" so I guess I am having seperation anxiety... ~the first love is the deepest.
It recently started to display a slight double image of color ( mostly blue ) on the left side only (1/4 of the screen). The picture otherwise is flawless. Normally, I would buy a new one but this TV has been an incredible workhorse with just simple cleaning & maintenance.
* I am able to adjust the convergence in all 4 directions for both red and blue but somehow this "ghost" will not sync up with convergence.
I have hit a wall in terms of reading reference so I am reaching out to anyone's thoughts or experience.
Any info would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Something is wrong with the blue convergence. it might be a failed resistor or the amp itself. i have had the same problem with a jvc several times. last time i added a couple of small 12v fanson the heatsink and run them with a small 12vdc wall wart. so far this has lasted 2 years(longest ever). the green is a fixed color it is not set by the user. the blue and red however, are movable to adjust the color and somewhere you have lost this. by it being only 1/4 of the screen it probally is a resistor on the convergence board( they act as fuses, usually very low ohms and 1 to 3 watts). some tv's have bad solder joints on the board thru holes. be carefull cause some tv's have a safety interlock, if you remove the back the interlock will wipe the digital boards memory and you will have to replace a very expensive part.

By design the blue gun is out of focus. It sounds like you are needing to tweak the focus or up the focus voltage. but remember the blue will never be a crisp focus compared to the green and red. good luck
