Could be the photocell (CAD cell) on a residential boiler, or a fuel problem ie dirty fuel filter, oil lines losing prime.

SOURCE: weil mclain heII-4 short cycles burner comes on

Make sure the exhaust fan is pushing out hot air and not obtstructed. Check the pilot assembly, clean ane make sure the sensor is well into the flame. Watch the flame to see if all burners are igniting. If not, clean the burners and the flame tray that spreads the flame to all of them. Look for a sensor at the farthest burner and make sure the probe is free of carbon and the wiring is tight.

SOURCE: We ran out of oil. I have a 6 month old Weil

Hi, I have nothing in front of me to tell me what these codes are saying. If it is only 6 months old, do you still have the manual on this unit? If so, it should tell you in the trouble-shooting section on what might happen when it runs out of fuel oil. If not, I know on gas fired heaters I can reset the codes by turning off the power supply for a few minutes and reset the codes that way. If you haven't done this you might give it a try. If this does not work, get back to me as I will look for information on this model to see what I can come up with. If killing the power works, please keep me posted.
Sincerely, Shastalaker7

SOURCE: How tough is it to install a new tankless coil in

There will be a screw or nut that holds the whole control in place. The probe is very short. When changing the coil, make sure you have a clean surface on the boiler where the new gasket will mate. You can use some high temperature silicon to hold the gasket in place but just use a minimal amount. Too much and as you tighten the bolts, it will push out the new gasket. Before attempting to loosen the bolts, spray them with penetrating oil a day prior to the repair. An impact wrench will quickly loosen the bolts if you can use one.

Light the pilot light on weil mclain gas boiler

Joanne If there is a standing pilot on the boiler. Put the gas valve to the pilot setting and push in on the valve while holding a long match or BBQ lighter @ the pilot assembly that is behind the small access port at the top of the gas train assembly. Dont hold the pilot knob doun without having a flane @ the gas outlet of the pilot assembly or gas will build up and could blow out of the port and hold the gas valve in for about a minute or two and let it go it should stay light when you let it go .If it does not sta lit and it IS a standing pilot there- is a thermo-coupling that may be bad If the pilot does not stay lit.
If there is an electronic ignition rather than a standing pilot then you do not need to light it will light itself if the electronic ignition is bad or if the flame sensor is dirty. If you remove the pilot assembly from the gas train and clean the flame sensor rod with a piece of .0000 steel wool it could help. If not you may want to call a licensed pipe-pitter ( OR plumber depending where you live and the local codes).
If you don't thing you could do it yourself then call a licensed pipi-fitter or plumber. (Gas only has to leak once for there to be a problem so please do call someone licensed if you don't think you could do it your self.),
Here is a link to the manufacturer you should be ale to fing your equipment and the install instructions, if you look around .You can download a PDF and print it
Good luck and stay warm

Have a water leak inside boiler keeps putting pilot light out

Not good at all. Check for a fill level probe/float/sensor that may be acting up causing the unit to over fill, or you may be looking at buying a new boiler.

Weil mclain furnace always locks out or latch up have tried button always repeats. oil in tank

Your problem could be in a number of areas. Have you checked and/or changed the filter? If you've had a recent oil delivery, there's a good chance it stirred up the sediment in the bottom of the tank and caused the filter to clog. Likewise the nozzle could be clogged. I would check those two items before anything else. After that, it could be a bad flame sensor or, if it doesn't ignite at all, a bad high voltage ignition coil.

Honeywell VisionPro TH8110R1008 controlling a Carrier FA4ANF018 electric furnace/AC. Heater won't turn on. Honeywell VisionPro TH8110R1008 controlling a Carrier FA4ANF018 electric furnace/AC. As best I can recollect, the sequence of events went like this: Furnace was working normally. Thermostat was set at 70. Turned temperature on thermostat down to 67 and left the apartment. Didn't notice if furnace was running or not at the time, nor if it was running and shut off when I lowered the temp. Came back an hour later. Furnace was running and temp was up to 72 degrees. Thermostat looked normal. No indication of low batteries. Tried turning the system off on the thermostat. Furnace continued to run. Nothing on the thermostat would affect the furnace. Eventually turned off the circuit breaker (for the apartment electrical, not the breaker on the furnace) to stop furnace. Waited. Turned breaker on. Furnace stayed off. Batteries failed in thermostat and screen went dark with barely readable failing battery message. Put in new batteries. Thermostat fired up but still wouldn't control the furnace. Switched to cooling. AC went on. Couldn't turn AC off. Had to turn breaker off again. Turned breaker on. Thermostat displayed "Wait" message when I tried turning on the furnace. Waited half an hour. Wait message disappeared. Still can't turn furnace on. Slid out lithium backup battery and slid back. Thermostat makes appropriate click sounds as if it is turning the furnace on or off, but furnace doesn't respond. Equipment Status screen shows furnace on or off depending on thermostat settings. Set thermostat to System Off. Checked breaker on side of furnace. Was off. Turned on. Turned temp up on thermostat. Thermostat clicked, but furnace did not go on.
