  • Be careful, the type of wire in use may melt the insulation and cause a short/shock.

If it is cordless,,then you must be dreaming that the cord gets hot.you should have some cupless coffee

Testimonial: "The kettle is cordless but the element that you set it on to heat the water is not. I can't help it that that's the description---I admit a bit of a misnomer but I'm not a blonde."

i should of continued, just picking on you,the cord will get hot, that is why they are short, dont put them on plastic or other things that melt, use it long enough to make a pot and unplug it,there must be something different that you can use,it sounds dangerous

My Breville water kettle stopped heating water. This is my second teakettle to do this. We have had this second kettle for about 2 years. We always were careful to make sure the kettle is off before

Unless you can take it apart and repair it yourself, it probably isn't worth the cost to have it repaired. There are several websites that sell parts, but you really have to be familiar with electrical circuits to diagnose it. Possibilities are:
1. It could be the thermostatic switch that turns it off as it reaches temperature. These are little devices with two wires connected and are in the base of the unit. these normally reset themselves but can stop working, especially if they have gotten wet.

2. It could be the cord to the unit with a wire broken at the base or the plug end.
3. It could be a thermal fuse; these are about 1/4 inch in diameter and may be hidden in an insulating sleeve near the element; they are sensitive to both heat and current.

3. It could be the element is burned out.

THE element does not get hot

Sounds like your tea kettle may have exceeded it's useful life. Don't know about Cuisinart, but generally these kinds of parts are not replaceable. I am afraid you may be looking at a new appliance. Sorry.

Dead cuisinart electric tea kettle

Your tea kettle has a thermal fuse inside that more that likely got over heated, it happens all the time with irons, coffee makers, most small appliances that are electric. you have to take the bottom off to find it and replace it. does it have an indicator lamp?

I have a model RK 17 Cordless electric jug kettle from cuisinart that I just love because of the old fashioned design. I need a new base because a mouse decided to chew the cord and was incinerated.

How to clean my Braun electric kettle

Hi, follow the instruction below to clean it up...

Unplug the tea kettle from the wall outlet, and detach the plug from the kettle.

Pour 1/4 cup white vinegar into the kettle, and fill the kettle halfway with hot water.

Agitate the kettle so the vinegar mixture hits the sides of the kettle walls, and let the water sit for 20 minutes.

Discard the vinegar water, and scrub the interior of the kettle gently with a nylon sponge.

Rinse the kettle with hot water, and repeat as needed until all buildup is removed. Let the kettle air-dry before inserting the cord back into the kettle.

How do you clean a Breville JK73 kettle. I have lost the instructios.

Put a cup of vinegar and a cup of water into the kettle and boil. Clean with a brush, rinse, boil once with clean water.

It will not heat up. It needs to be reset. How?

If the unit overheated the boil-off protection is actuated. Unplug the base power cord. Let the unit cooldown if needed. Replug it in. Should work

Red light's on... but no hot water!

OK, inside the unit there are three items, the heating element, thermostat, and thermal fuse. What has happened is the element got too hot and the thermal fuse opened. There is no reset button. In some cases you may run across a defective heating element or thermostat but its not common. The fix would probably be replacement of the thermostat and thermal fuse. For this, you would have to contact a small appliance repair center in your area.

Problems with Breville SK500XL Stainless Steel Cordless Electric Kettle

There's a thermal cutout that trips if the regular safety switch isn't enough. According to the manual, if the thermal cutout trips you have to send it back to Breville for servicing.

That may be what happened, if just letting it cool down and trying again didn't work.
