Make sure you are using a brand new needle and that is inserted correctly (there is right & wrong way!).

If it still will not pick up the bobbin thread, most likely the needle/hook timing is off. Take it for service.

The type of needle, sharp or ball polnt, will make a difference. If sewing knit fabric, you need ball point needle. Wovrn fabric, sharp needle. The wrong needle will cause skipped stiches. Along with a needle soze that is too small, especially when sewing denim. sure to use a 16 or 18 gauge needle that hasn't been used a lot( over usage can cause skipped stitches). And like mentioned before we sure your needle is inserted correctly good luck, God bless.

SOURCE: need to put bobin in a merritt 4530

Flip the presser switch up to raise the presser foot. Turn the hand wheel counterclockwise until the needle is in its highest position.

  • 2Hold the hand wheel in place with your left hand while turning the hand wheel knob counterclockwise with your right hand to loosen the hand wheel knob.
  • 3Place the desired spool of thread on the spool pin so that the pin fits all the way through the hole in the center of the spool. Put the spool holder onto the end of the spool pin that is sticking through the spool of thread and press firmly to ensure that the spool holder keeps the spool in place.
  • 4Grasp the end of the thread and hold it taut between the thumb and index fingers of both hands. Snap the taut section of thread into the thread guide post located to the left of the spool pin.
  • 5Pull the end of the thread gently. Wrap the thread around the bobbin winder tension disk near the left front on top of the machine, starting at the side of the tension disk facing you and wrapping around in a clockwise direction.
  • 6Poke the end of the thread through the small hole in the bobbin from the inside out so that the loose end of the thread sticks through the top of the bobbin. Put the bobbin on the spindle, or bobbin winder, and gently slide the bobbin winder to the right.
  • 7Hold the loose end of the thread in place while pressing down on the foot pedal to start the machine. Hold the foot pedal down until the bobbin is as full as desired. The machine will automatically stop once the bobbin has reached capacity.
  • 8Cut the loose end of the thread using scissors. Slide the bobbin winder to the left and remove the bobbin. Hold the hand wheel in your left hand and tighten the hand wheel knob with your right hand by turning it clockwise

My bernina activa 140 do not pick up the bobin tread

Ok, the needle may not be shoved up high enough into the needle shaft, or the bobbin may not be seated properly in the bobbin case.

I have multiple threads coming out the bobin space and making a mess of the back side.

called bird nesting and is a result of too loose a needle thread tension
if you use an automatic tensioner or using the numbers
and you still have a problem, the correct tension is a resistance to you pulling the thread prior to threading the needle

Can not get the bobin to tread so i can sew

I am hoping that you only need to try a new needle, insert with flat side facing away from you, now rethread and try again, If, that is not it, you may need to take it in for service to fix the timing

I took out the bobin case and now when I put it back in it wont stay. The thread bunches up or the bobin case comes out of place. Any idea on how to get it to stay put?

The manual usually shows a pretty good diagram of how it should be, it snaps in place. Call singer at 1-800-4singer. Or go online at singerco.com and download a manual for free,
