Question about GE Dishwashers

Open Question

GE profile dishwasher rack wont pull out all the way.

Top rack will pull out about 2/3 of the way and then stops. One side acts like it will allow further pull but the other side stops and has no give. Have to reach far into rack to load/unload

The only other answer is rude, so here is a better one for anyone having trouble in future. When the top rack will not pull out, something may be caught in the track. Usually you can see that it is a cup or handle that is causing the upper rack to stop in its track.

Don't fret it you can't see what is in the track even with a flashlight. That may mean it is a clear plastic piece that is making it stick. Run your fingers up under the rack and along both side edges (unless you put knives up there or have something sharp like a processor blade that could cut you)

If that doesn't work, take a peek inside. Anything clear plastic like a measuring cup in there and on either edge?? If so, move it with a wooden spoon until you can see its handle. Or flip it until the handle is visible. 99.9% of the time, something is blocking the track, so don't go get a repairman or buy parts until you are sure the tracks are clear. Good luck, Kitty

Check the pump, make sure it is working properly and pumping water out. If it is then check the drain hose and make sure it is not plugged.

I would suggest you buy some CLR and run it through a full heavy cycle with the washer empty. Be sure to put it in all dispenser areas and sprinkle about 1/4 cup into the washer before starting.

remove the tray and look at the wheels to be sure they are completely attached to the tray itself. If they are spray them with PAM or another cooking spray product to lubricate them.

SOURCE: granddughter stood on dishwasher door and now it goes down too far when opening. Spring assembly (pulley type) is FINE...but door goes so far down bottom shelf nearly breaks dishes when pulling out

This happens when people leave the door down, I've seen it many, many times, sometimes the door/hinge assembly can be replaced or even bent back, sometimes it totals out the unit...Good luck !

Top rack automatically slides out upon opening door

Hi,

This is actually a feature to allow the user easy access of sliding out the top rack. A look at the parts diagram disclosed that there is no mechanism activating this and therefore could be assumed to be gravity driven. It would stop a few inches due to the action or rather inaction of the rollers which would require user intervention (pull).

The only modification I could think of is to change how the inner rails are attached by inclining it to prevent the sliding out. The idea would be to lean in the upper rack to prevent gravity from sliding it out. Am not sure if inclining the entire dishwasher would affect the overall performance but it is also a possibility.

I have taken the liberty of including the diagram of the upper track should you wish to reference it.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Why are hype dishes on the top rack of my Ge profile dishwasher dirty? The upper two arms do not spin, but the lowest one is strong

There is a plastic filter down inside the pump inlet that clogs up on these. It can be difficult to remove without breaking things. d26b8b16-9f7c-47f1-863b-1baebb58de21.jpg

My dishwasher wont clean the dishes. The bottom rack gets kinda clean and the dishes on the top rack come out dirty and covered in film.

Check whether the top rack spray arm main hose sits firmly into the
machine. If there is a leak in this area water pressure may not develop.
Also check the water pump in the machine!

GE Profile GSD4010202AA Built in Dishwasher acts as if no power

1. turn breaker off to diswasher. 2. remove bottom access cover. 3. remove cover over electrical connection box on right side. 4. hold each wire nut connector and firmly tug on one wire at at time to make sure none of the wires pull out of the wire connecor nuts. A loose connection here is more common than you might think.
If those are all OK, turn breaker back on and make sure you have power there. (120 volts black to white) If that was OK, then check door latch switch inside door at the top center and wires passing through door at the bottom of the door.

GE Profile dishwasher makes a humming noise

I had the same problem. The issue is due to the top rack water inlet not properly seating against the water line in the rear of the washer. I fixed it by placing heavier items (bowls, glass cups) on the rear of the rack and lighter items (plastic cups) near the front of the rack. As long as I arrange items on the top rack in this way the washer runs silently.
