Question about Garmin GPS

I bought a Garmin 600 GPS and a OnXMap Micro SD card for my state of Oregon. I can't get the GPS to recognize that it is even in the unit.

Plug the GPS into your ??, and put the Micro SD card in it and install it and see if that will help.

SOURCE: My LG Chocolate VX8550 wont recognize micro sd card

Here are the steps I took:

  1. Insert the micro sd card with the metal plates facing you (that took me a second). Don't worry about the little push you have to give.
  2. Go to the Settings & Tools option in the Menu.
  3. Select *. Memory
  4. Selct 3. Card Memory
  5. Select Options while the bar is on "1. Memory Usage". The only option available to me was 1. Format and select that.
  6. It will ask for the phone lock code-if you have never set it IT IS THE LAST 4 DIGITS OF YOUR TELEPHONE NUMBER.
  7. The phone will format the card and put the file folders on it.
  8. Use the adaptor USB reader or whatever you have to connect it to the computer. Copy songs to the my_music folder.

for mp3 as ringtones:

  1. You should select the part of the song you like, and can add effects with this:http://www.mptrim.com/
  2. To set it as a ringtone, send it as an attachments to you areacodeandyourphonenumber@vzwpix.com. It must be small to go through, around 30 seconds.
  3. You will get a text message, and select options. Select Save As Ringtone.

SOURCE: EnV2 does not recognize MP3 files on micro SD card

This was tricky, but I was able to get MP3 files recognized on my daugter's phone.

First, the MicroSD card needs to be formatted by the phone. The phone requres a special directory structure to be created. You may be able to do this manually, but I did it by letting the phone initialize the card. To do this, insert the MicroSD card. Make sure you push it all the way in.

Go to Menu 9 Settings and Tools. Then menu 9 Memory. Then menu 3 Card Memory. The phone should recognize the card and initialize it by creating the special directories for My Music, My Videos, My Sounds, etc.

Then put the card into your PC and copy your MP3 files to the My Music directory on the card. I could not get the phone to recognize sub folders, so make sure you copy everything directly to the My Music directory and not the one under it.

Now the card is ready, you have to tell the phone to use your card memory and not its internal memory for these items. Go to Menu 9 Settings and Tools. Then menu 9 Memory. Then menu 1 Save Options. Pick Pictures, Video, and Sounds and set the phone to use Card memory for each.

Now you can import the music into the music player on the phone. Go to menu 5 Media Center. Menu 1 Music & tones. Menu 4 My Music. The music player should then Import yhour music into the player and it should now be playable.

(I think these accurately reflect what I did)

You can also go to 9 Settings, 9 Memory, 3 Card Memory, 4 My Music to view your music.

Micro sd card wont click into place garmin nuvi 2589

On some units, they won't click. You slide the micro SD card into the slot and you will feel a slight resistance. Continue to slide the card in until it stops. It will only slide in one way. This is exactly how the micro SD card slides into a standard SD adapter. There is no click. If you connect the GPS to a PC using the USB data cable, your PC should recognize (2) memory devices; (1) The GPS and (2) the SD card. It may take a few moments. Wait a few minutes until you see both appear in Windows. Always select EJECT or SAFELY REMOVE before you remove the USB data cable.

Here is a link to the SD card version. It is also available on DVD. SD card is the easiest to install and use. The SD card version can also be transfered to other Garmin units like the Oregon 450 if you plan to go hiking, boating, or geocaching!

Micro sd card not showing up on the gps

Have you got GB Discoverer on the card? The map should appear on the Map Information list in the Setup > Map area. Double check the placement of the map card. Also, in case you have not found it yet, there's wealth of information on the Oregon Wiki here: garminoregon.wikispaces.com

Memory Maps are for PDA's only, not for Garmin GPS units. If you purchased these from Memory Map, contact the company and request a refund due to hardware incompatibility. Maps for the Oregon are from Garmin (purchase) or Ibycus (free).

Problem loading maps to ubs card

The i3 comes with a 128MB micro SD card - first can you be more specific as to what you refer to as "not recognized"? Do the usb drivers install correctly and after installation is the i3 recognized by your pc once you hook it up with the USB cable? Is the micro SD card in place? Is it all the way in the slot?
