Question about Whirlpool Washing Machines

2 Answers

I have a Whirlpool Gold washer (MOD# GSQ9669LW0). The washer makes a grinding noise below when in operation. Spins when agitating, but not in rinse mode. Water still pumps out in final spin.

It was working while agitating, but did not spin at the end of rinse mode. Water still pumped out in final spin. All the time the grinding noise was present.

Grinding noise could be in transmission, agitator, or pump. Hard to say without hearing it or looking at it.

SOURCE: Rinse water fills the washing machine when the spin cycle starts

Check your outlet filter, most likely it is blocked, preventing the water from draining out. Chk your pump too. Before this disconnect from the wall socket; and also check the pipe coming from the tub to the filter. Siphon out the excess water from inside the machine before you open the pipes.

SOURCE: Whirlpool top Loading washing machine won't spin on spin cycle

If the washer won't finish a spin cycle, it probably means that your timer went bad or stalled. You can take the control panel off and look at the contacts for scorching or corrosion.

SOURCE: My Capacity Plus Admiral Washer will spin and agitate, but it makes a loud grinding noise.

Well, Sounds to me like the Bearings are going out, but it could make that noise a good while, before it goes completely out.. Replacement would possably be more cost effective, Kinda hard to beleive !!!!!!

Agitator ''dogs'' not gripping, agitator spins freely; tub rocks

Likely a broken dog itself was making the noise. They should all be replaced.

Agitator on whirlpool washer makes lots of noise. No noise when it spins.

In the agitator itself and there are ratchets that are called dogs. If you reach into the drum it will present itself because you be able to turn the agitator both directions, normally the agitator only turns freely in one direction. You can replace the dogs/ratchet by disassembling. If you take rinse dispenser off of the agitator you will see an insulator that you pull off and then you can see the dogs and a bolt that will allow you to take the agitator out.

Whirlpool washer Mod# TWAS750PQO, Ser# CR3520005

is it possible that the washer was overloaded? if so the agitator has little plastic "gears" that move the agitator one way only, they could have made the sound.
you can also check under the washer to see if anything (like a coat-hanger or something) is interfering with moving parts of the washer
