Ringworm is a fungus, and can be transferred from animal to human or vise versa. you need to call the vet or your doctor and get a prescription antibiotic anti-fungal cream. you can try an over the counter anti fungal cream but they don't always work.

Ring worm ( round patch on the skin) is not a worm as such but a fungus on the shin
your doctor will prescribe a suitable fungicide to get rid of it

What are the long term effects of having ringworm

ring worms or shingles is a disease that if left unchecked can be serious to the body
there is an injection that you can get from your doctor to act against the disease to stop or mitigate its advance
fixya site is not a medical forum so talk with a doctor for proper medical help on the subject
it is not a worm as such but the round mark resembles a worm and so that is how it got the name

How to choose healthy treats for your dog

When it comes to dog treats, it is important that you choose the right treats for you dog. You should try to avoid overly fatty treats and opt for healthier, more beneficial treats. I recommend buying low-calorie dog treats. Make it a point to check the calorie count on the packaging. You can also break larger treats down into several pieces to give to your dog at various points throughout the day.

Avoid giving your dog table scraps. Human food tends to be high in calories and fat and low in vitamins and nutrients. It is also a bad habit to get your dog into - begging at the table for food.

Look for treats made from all natural ingredients. Treats made from whole grains are great as well as treats made from a single protein such as chicken/lamb. Finally, look for treats that have oxidant rich vegetables such as spinach/beans.

Lastly, you should consider the texture of the treat itself. Although ingredients are far more important, texture can play a significant role. I recommend buying your dog harder treats. They are far more beneficial to your dogs dental health.

Here are some links for the treats we use, our dogs love them and they are very healthy -

How long does it take to treat with the antifungal medication?

The length of treatment depends on what type of fungal infection you have, how severe it is and if you have any other health problems - for example, problems with your immune system. Some courses of treatment can be as short as a few days; other courses can be a long as ten weeks (for example, fo ringworm infection of the scalp).

Do I need to buy a special kind of treat for my Maltese? She's so small and I don't want to give her something that may hurt her.

There are treats that are better to buy smaller dogs. I have a Boston terrier and also bought him small dog-specific treats. I will send you a few links; however you can also go to a local pet store and they will help you out.

My dog is overweight and I don't want to take his treats away from him entirely. Can anyone suggest some good treats for a doggie on a diet?

You should get your dog all-natural treats filled with proteins. I have located a great site about low-fat, all-natural treats for you to browse through.

How to use lemongrass oil

Hello there,

Have a blessed day.

You can follow the instructions below on how to use the lemongrass oil.

1.Use lemongrass essential oil to heal ringworm. This is a common remedy used in many parts of India. Combine 3-5 drops of lemongrass oil with 4 ounces of carrier oil, such as sweet almond or jojoba oil. Apply directly to the affected area several times per day until the ringworm is gone.

2.Use lemongrass essential oil as a fragrance in skin care products. This oil is widely used in natural lotions, creams and soaps. Add several drops to an unscented or homemade lotion for normal to oily skin. Or add the oil to glycerin soap or liquid castile soap, and wash the skin as usual.

3.Use lemongrass essential oil to open the sinus and breathing passages. Its potent aromatic properties will improve breathing, particularly in cases of severe congestion of sinusitis. Add 3-5 drops of the oil to a bowl of steaming water, place a towel over the head and inhale the vapors. Alternately, you can simply inhale the straight essential oil, but do this sparingly.
4.Use lemongrass essential oil in homemade massage oils. This oil has calmative and antispasmodic properties, making it ideal for massage. Combine 3-5 drops with 4 ounces of high-quality carrier oil, and massage into skin. This is a useful treatment to promote restful sleep.

5.Use lemongrass essential oil as a natural insect repellent. The strong scent is unappealing to insects, similar to citronella, and they will avoid it all costs. Combine 10-20 drops lemongrass oil in 8 ounces water. Pour the mixture into a spray bottle and shake well to combine. Spray the mixture directly onto the skin to repel insects. The oil may also be combined with citronella essential oil for added strength.
Note: Lemongrass essential oil can be purchased at natural health stores, some craft and hobby stores, and can be ordered online. Make sure you are buying 100 percent pure and natural essential oil, and not fragrance oil. Fragrance oil should never be used on the skin as described above.
Lemongrass essential oil can irritate the skin if it is sensitive. It should be avoided, or used with extra care, by people with sensitive skin. Usually, small amounts will not cause irritation.

Hope it helps.

Thank you for using fixya.
