You will probably need to replace the sleeve on the motor shaft and the blade. If overloaded the shaft can spin inside the blade which wrecks the connection between them. Replacing both together is the correct solution.
It sounds like the safety mechanism is fussy. It may be broken. Or, sometimes a connection within the unit itself might come loose. I've seen wires get so hot the solder melts and the wires detatch. The little tab that engages the safety mechanism might be chipped or broken off. If the outlet is working, the unit is getting power. The power is just not getting to the motor inside the device.
There could be an internal fuse that blew. If you unplug the device, set it up as if you are going to use it, activate the the device while holding an ohmmeter to the plug prongs, you should get a reading over 10 ohms.
If you get 0 ohms, there's and internal short circuit. If you get nothing--overload--infinite, it's a loose connection or a blown internal fuse.
It is overheating, probably because it is being overworked. Some common problems are overloading the bowl, or forcing too much food into the hopper on top. Once it overheats, it will kick out again rather quickly the next time unless the motor has time to cool. If you are shredding cheese, slow down on the amount of cheese forced into the blade. If you are trying to mix heavy dough you are probably overloading the bowl as well. This machine can't handle over a pound of pizza dough without overheating. The reset button is there to keep from burning the motor out. If you continue to reset and force feed the machine, it will burn the motor out. Good luck, hope this helps.
check to make sure micro switch is engaged, will not turn on because of safety switch . if overloaded the thermal fuse has blown inside the machine. check to see if you have voltage , you may need a voltage test meter too and tools
