Question about Bose Audio Players & Recorders

Open Question

Greetings! I have a bose wave cd/radio that works fine if you like loud buzzing on any function ( radio or cd) there are times you can get the buzzing to stop but that is by turning the volume full blast which causes the neighbors pain. If you are facing the unit, the buzzing is coming from the right side. I did notice that the center cap? Cover? Buzz stopper? is missing, which is not the case on the left side. Can this be repaired easily at home or should it be scrapped? Thank you in advance for your assistance. Oh- awrc1p

Yes There is a pigtail fuse in unit. It solders to main board. In order to replace you have to pull main p.c.b to get access to bottom of board.

SOURCE: Bose Wave Radio, Model AWR1-1W When turned on

Loud buzz is usually caused by static and radio interference in radios. If none of this is affecting you unit presently there there is a probability that some cables which aid the fm antenna in receiving stations this could act as static which brings about the buzz on the unit. Either way it is caused by interference on the fm receiver end and all you have to do is get that serviced and the problem is solved.
Hope this solution has been helpful?

Bose Wave Radio, Model AWR1-1W When turned on radio emits a loud buzz and no other sound. Pushing tuning, volume, and aux buttons has no effect. Is this fixable? If so, how?

Bose Wave Radio only turns on + off using am/fm toggle button

Unfortunately, Bose does not release their parts lists or schematics, effectively creating a monopoly for parts and repairs. In fact, their web site says that the Bose factory is the only option for service or repair. They used to list a flat rate repair charge on the web site, but removed it - probably because it scared too many people. Their troubleshooting guide (below) might help, but it's very simplistic.

Before you invest in expensive factory repair on one of these trouble prone sets, you might want to investigate the new HD radios -- better sound at a MUCH lower price.

Loud popping and static-vol ctrl has no effect on noise

Bose will not release their schematics or parts lists, effectively giving them a monopoly on repair of their units. If you check their web site, www.bose.com, you'll find that they will repair your unit for $100 or possibly give you $200 credit towards a new model. Before you take them up on either offer, you might want to check out the new lines of HD radios. Better souind quality, MUCH lower prices than a Bose.
