Can pickling spice be usedcin place of whole allspice

Yes you could substitute pickling spice. The flavor will be different than simply allspice. Pickling spice is a mixture of many spices, including Allspice. The mixture usually contains mustard seeds, whole coriander seeds, bay leaves and red pepper flakes. You may prefer the Pickling Spice mixture to just Allspice, but if the recipe is listing the other ingredients that are in the pickling spice leave them out if you sub Pickling spice

How long should two one and half pound lobsters be cooked?

Add 3 minutes per pound for each additional pound thereafter. For example, a 2 pound lobster should boil for 13 minutes and a 1 1/2 pound lobster should boil for 11 1/2 minutes. These times are for hard shell lobsters, if cooking new shell (soft shell lobsters) reduce boiling or steaming time by three minutes.

it is a slow cooker for the purpose of slow cooking so turn it to low and it will keep cooking
If you want fast cooking on high temp use a pot or a pan .it will be cheaper.

Whenever I cook pasta the water boils over and causes a terrible mess. How can I stop this happening?

The most common cause of water boiling over when you cook pasta is if you cook it with the lid on the pot. Don't cover pasta fully with a lid. Either cook it uncovered or if you are in a hurry to cook it quicker, just partially cover the pot.

Also make sure you don't overfill the pan with water as this is another cause of overboiling.
