Question about Kitchen Appliances - Others
The carriage for the slices of bread to be toasted will not stay down. If I hold the handle down, the toaster will work, but who wants to stand there holding the handle down? The toaster worked fine for about two years. I expect betther life from such an expensive toaster!
Hi, most new toaster have a selenoid that hold down the handle while toasting then release when done so a spring bring the toast up. Possible problem with the selenoid, the electronic circuit that controls it or the plate that the selenoid holds. When you lower the handle you close the contacts of the AC line inside the toaster so if the handle is raised there is no power.

I have no solution, but same thing happened last week to my RH2T toaster which I love. My question is how to get the plastic handle off the steel extension of the bread carriage. Unless I can do that I can't get the steel outer case off to full inspect and clean the mechanism. The bread lifter quit staying down after a slice of toast broke apart and fell down into the interior. I think I've gotten all of it bout but can be sure until I can get the stainless (or is it brushed chrome) outer shell of.
