Question about FreeMotion Exercise & Fitness
I recently purchased a used Freemotion f5.6 Elliptical Strider, but the buttons are not working on the display screen. When I plug the AC power supply in, the screen lights up blue and says "resistance 1" but none of the buttons work to change the resistance or work out. Any suggestions as to what is wrong?
If one of the buttons is stuck, none of the buttons will work.
Try using a hair dryer to free the stuck button. the heat (use low) will cause the button to expand and might free the button.
Otherwise, the consoles are not repairable, and are a straight replacement item. Call Icon Fitness for parts pricing.

SOURCE: Screen went black
Just a thought... There's a "Fn" Key located beside the Start key, when you press this "FN" key + F5, the screen goes black, and if you press again, the screen goes back to normal... Could this be the problem?

Did you get the im600 wet? I have a similar problem, and I've been touching the power and volume buttons with wet fingers. I believe the design allows for liquid to enter the unit, and then it short circuits. Also found gummy residue around the pin, in the power connector on the back. Hope that helps.

Its a capacitor problem that is easily solved by a do-it-yourselfer. Google dvp642 and c316 (location of the cap on the board). A simple inspection will tell you if its bad and you can replace the cap out of Radio Shack for a couple bucks. Im doing it to a player right now...I have the bad capacitor out and just need the replacement. The bad cap will be bulged up on the top. It looks like a black barrel w/ an aluminum top. Its located on the main board that the power cable is attached to. You will find forums which describe the repair and replacement part in detail. Good luck!

Testimonial: "This makes way more sense than the previous advice I received! I've already identified the capacitor and I think I can do this on my own. Thanks!!"
1) tight the bolts tension for magnet and clean very well. and proof..if the fail
2) go to test the magnet, use again the magnet from your refrigerator magnet, for attraction and repulsion. If do not pass the TEST replace the magnet in any Hardware such home depot, etc.
God bless you
