Press and hold down the center shaft of the blade assembly and lift the blades straight up. You can go here: http://www.ultimatechopper.com/chopper_ul_manual_eng.pdf for a downloadable pdf copy of the user's manual.

My lid broke on mine and I guess by the looks of it I will not be able to replace it. I have the blade, bowl and base that all work fine. Pay for shipping and it is all yours.

You don't mount the blade inserts to the safety insert. The safety insert is only for storage so that someone doesn't cut themselves. Remove the safety insert then install your selected the blade/insert you wish. When finished place the safety insert back in for - safety.
