Question about Tatung V30DMTT 29.6 in. LCD Television

1 Answer

I have a small hole in my dell lcd monitor that is always white.

It seems like it was punctured with a nail or something burned through it. When I have text on the screen it doesn't show through the hole or anything. I've tried some scratch fixes like vaseline, but nothing has worked. Please let me know if there's anything I can do to fix this, and hopefully cheap.

Not a thing you can do = your lucky the screen is still working , leave it be~ replace with new screen when you can
for safty you can always place a small pice of clear tape over it, wont improve txt but it will stop dirt getting in and might give you longer life with screen.

My flat pc monitor has a punchsure in the screen! how can i repair it ?

Sorry, there is no fix for a punctured screen. It is amazing that it is still working at all.

It will not keep working for long, I am sorry to say. LCD means Liquid Crystal Display. As the liquids disperse through capillary action, the "hole" in the picture will get larger. Eventually, enough of the microscopic transistors that drive the liquid crystals from light to dark state will fail to cause the entire screen to shut down.

There is no way to tell how long your screen will continue to work.... for all I know, it may have failed when I started typing an answer to your question.... it may last for minutes, days, maybe even weeks.

If you were very lucky and only punctured the outer thin-film protective glass layer, it may keep on working fine. You will be able to tell if this is the case if there is no dark spot in the screen where it got punctured.

Good Luck with it! Sorry the news is not better, but in any case, Thank You for using FixYa!

Colored vertical lines on monitor

Have you unplugged the power cord to the LCD? Let it sit for a minute, then try it. ALWAYS buy a UPS and plug any computer devices into it. Doesn't have to be big, a $50 unit will protect it from dangerous voltage surges.

Dell LCD screen goes white

The problem with most LCD monitors that go white are one or more of the following in order:

1. Bad or loose VGA/DVI connection cable
2. Bad power inverter board. (Internal part: can be replaced)
3. Bad power supply.

Hope this helps you.

DELL LCD monitor E151FPb turn white

If the screen is all white light then you can have a number of problems.
One could be a bad video board, the next could be a simple loose wire from the video board to the back of the lcd screen OR a simple blown fuse on the back of the actual lcd screen can cause the same thing.
Snaps are all sround these things and can be really stubborn at times. Best to start the bottom first then work up each side to the top.
Something flat, thin and with a decent sharp edge on it will help. A pocket knife held parallel to the joint between the front and rear plastic works, you can also sharpen the edge of an old credit card with a file (nail file works) This isn't as strong as a blade , but safer if you slip !!

Dell 1704FPTt 17" TFT LCD Flat

I used to repair LCD monitor from Dell. There are 4 screws for rear panel and no screw for front frame. If there is no visible screw, you have to look for "capped" screw holes (little covers that fit flush with the case to hide the screws). If you don't see these neither, this must be a tension fit case. So, face the screen up and look for "rectangular hole" on the side edge (usually at the bottom edge of the screen). This will be a challenge to open without breaking it. You'll need a very thin flat screw driver and wedge it into that narrow rectangular hole. You can use any prybar if you don't have screw driver. It is not too deep. You may stab something important inside and pry it. Once it starts to spread, start sliding it along the seem and you should feel the tension tabs start "popping" open. Continue to work your way around until it's off. Hope this will help you to get the rear panel off. If there is anything I can help you with, feel free to let me know.
Thank you,

Dell monitor

Tantong's description is correct -- press on side tabs and pry apart the face while working from the middle of the sides to the top. Once the sides are separated, remove the top, and remove the bottom last.

If there are no visible screws, look for "capped" screw holes (little covers that fit flush with the case to hide the screws). If you don't see these either, it is probably a tension fit case and will be a challenge to open without breaking it. Youll need to find the seem and wedge something into it like a prybar (not too far or you may stab something important inside). Once it starts to spread, start sliding it along the seem and you should feel the tension tabs start "popping" open. Continue to work your way around until it's off. Now, with that said... There's a small chance that it is Ultra-sonically sealed. This means it is basically welded shut (yes, you can weld plastic together) and is not EVER going to open without breaking. So, use your judgement to determine which is the case for this unit.
