Printer won't print - says door is closed, even when it's open

Hello, maybe you can help me. I have a Canon iP4200 which has been working fine. While moving it yesterday, the printer tray door opened and was banged. Now when I try to print, it says "Door closed - unable to print" even when the door is open. Can I do anything to make the printer think the door is open?

Either the ink you are using is not going to give the color you want, or you have print heads that are blocked.

The resume button keeps flashing even after I shut off printer, and won't allow me to print. I turned off and on the printer several times. I don't get an error message. All ink is OK.

Make sure the ink cartridge cover is properly closed.

My sister's printer had a similar problem and on initial inspection the cover seemed to be closed, however a small bit of the plastic clip that holds the cover closed had snapped off and therefore wasn't holding the cover properly closed and the sensing micro switch that tells the printer the hatch is closed wasn't being activated.

Not very scientific and a bit of a bodge, but some suitably placed selotape / duct tape / insulating tape to hold the cover firmly closed did the trick.

Printing Problem

Look for ink clogged on the printer head. Run cleaning or deep cleaning after installing the new cartridge before printing. Take nozzle check print.

Only Prints in Magenta

The cartridges may still be at fault, or there is a problem with the processor board in the printer. I have also seen problems with the ink jets in these.

Just stopped printing

when i had this problem with my lexmark i had to uninstall all my printer software and reinstall everyhting from the disk for my printer. hope it helps.

select print from file menu in say word select ip4200 select preferences select page set up tab tick box "Duplex printing ok ok

dear oceantracks maybe one of the black cartridge chip think that ink is running low or not ink is left in the cartrridge.
