Question about Amana Dryers

1 Answer

Timer dial gets stuck on Amana dryer.

The timer dial on this 9 year old dryer is getting 'stuck', and I really have to turn it hard to make it move past a certain point. It sticks pretty much in the same area every time.

Maytag Performa will not turn on. (4 Years old) There is power to it. You can hear a fainting clicking of the timer when you dial a setting

Have you tried moving the selection switch a hair at a time while in the ON position? The timer may be corroded -- if you can get to it it is easy to see the points and clean them with sandpaper or file. If so, the timer is moving but is not making a connection due to crud.

The dryer drys but the dial does not move and....

HI. the timer control module is experiencing difficulties. the advancement of the timer dial is crucial, and it must rotate in order to initiate proper cycle sequence. The timer motor is the culprit in this case, and the timer will need to be replaced.

Replacing the timer will fix this issue.

My amana gas dryer model # NDG2330AWW timer will not work. It only turns so far and then stops. The dryer is not getting hot and the will not turn off unless I manually turn the dial to off.

HI. this timer mechanism is the Principal initiator of the units entire cycle when in action. You will not receive any heat if the timer motor has failed. Have this timer module replaced asap. this will fix this issue.

Freezer does not freeze fast enough, icecream gets very soft. The refrigerator is set on temperature level 9 and is not cold.

Setting the control to 9 may make the freezer ice up too much to work right. You can start with a manual defrost. That takes a long time, because the ice is below the freezer liner, stuck in the coils. You'll have to move your food elsewhere, like a cooler. I always take the freezer apart to get at the coils, use a hair dryer to melt the ice. Then you can check the defrost coil, it's like a toaster element. After all that, check the defrost timer too. It's usually down by the compressor area, about the size of a cell phone. It has a small dial on it that only turns one way. Mark it when the fridge is on with whiteout to see if it moves. It moves real slowly, so you will have to wait a half hour or so.
One way to speed up a defrost is to turn the dial on the defrost timer until it clicks. Then the compressor will turn off and the defrost coil will turn on. The freezer fan should be spinning. Feel the output from the freezer fan- anything? If no flow, you're iced up. Keep checking for flow, eventually it should get cold. When you get good airflow, and maybe it's not so cold anymore, you might be defrosted without having to take the whole thing apart. You may have to turn the dial more than once, if the compressor comes back on before you're defrosted. You can help the defrost with your hair dryer thru the vents in the front of the freezer, but not too hot, you don't want to melt any plastic.

Gas dryer continues to run on the Auto cycle.

try to get the manual for the dryer you got and locate the moisture sensor if this sensor is bad what happen is that the automatic timer thinks that the clothes still wet and continues to dry once the sensor detects no moisture then it shut off the dryer normally is located behind the dryer on the exit line of the air duct and tested for conductivity and see if is good or not

Wash machine sometimes gets stuck on rinse cycle & dryer not dry

Sounds like the drain hose for the washer is too far down in the stand pipe at the wall causing a siphon effect, try raising drain hose a little. The dryer sounds like the vent line from back of dryer too wall is pinched causing an air flow obstruction. Hope this helps.
