Thank you for your suggestions Guru. I did say it was a new lamp and did say it doesn't fire up. I think you may have missed these points. There is a flashing red status light situated between the power and the lamp light, which are both lit permanently.

You need to hold the menu button on the remove for at leaset 10 seconds, the light will go off and you should be able to use the projector. Doing this resets the lamp counter.

I cant see if that post went through or not.

You need to hold the help button on the remote down for 10 seconds until the light goes off.

This will reset the lamp life counter and you will be able to use the projector again.

    (not the menu button sorry)

and the projector should be in standby mode while you hold down the help button.

Hi there,

Make sure the projector is not overheating. Check the ventilation slots to make sure they are not blocked. Also, turn the projector off for at least 20 minutes to allow it to cool down. Make sure the room in which you are using the projector isn't too warm. NEC projectors work best in cooler rooms. Check the lamp to make sure it is properly attached and hasn't burned out. Also, look for a red blinking light on the housing. If the light is blinking red, it means the projector has a bad lamp or the lamp housing is incorrectly attached.
If none of them then contact NEC customer service by calling (800) 836-0655 or follow the below link (site) -

What does a solid red status light on a NEC VT676

This could be a number of things. When I encountered this problem it was simply a burned out lamp. If you have not checked that make sure you do that first. Also there is a safety feature on the projectors that will not let you turn the projector on until the lamp cover is back in place. You may also want to ensure that the filter door is securely in place. After you have done this try to power up the projector (it will take a few seconds for the lamp to warm up.) If the projector starts up, go to the menu and clear the lamp hours. These projectors have lamp life's that will expire after a certain amount of time, irregardless of the functionality of the bulb. Hope this helps you out. :)

Power light is steady orange and lamp light is red but there is a new bulb in it. NEC VT676

If the unit will not power up it sounds like you may have tripped the lamp timer. You will need the remote plug the unit in and hold down the menu button on the remote for 10 seconds. The red light should go off and the unit should fire up.
Thanks Projector Guy

Nec Lt265 extremely dim

I had this same issue and it was the bulb. We had 2 of the NEC LT265 projectors so we swapped the bulbs between the 2 and it tracked with the bulb.
