Recurring buzzing sound with icemaker

Every now and then, icemaker starts a low buzz/grind, as if something is stuck. I have tried turning off the icemaker, crushing ice, vice just ice cubes, but the sound continues. Perhaps a buzz caused by vibration which causes a loose part to vibrate

The buzzing sound may be the sounf of the electric water valve (Solenoid) when filling ice cube tray.

sounds like the unit is trying to harvest but ice is stuck in the tray . it may have a bad mold heater or a bad mold. if its ruff it may be bad . the noise is the motor tryn=ing to turn the ice in the mold and can't .. new heater may correct problem . also ck the thermostate in head . and clean the mold and lube with food grade silcone . or replace the icemaker .. mm / most replace the head complete as there too many other things that can cause no harvest and noise .. mm

Icemaker crushed ice only, no cubes

I had the same problem of only crushed ice. The solution is very simple. Pull out the ice drawer and in the back on the fridge you will see a small square hole. This is the hole that the long rod that runs along the bottom corner of the ice drawer sticks into. The rod controls if the ice is crushed or not. If not crushed the rod twists and opens the door by the grinder so it does not grind. This rod is not opening the door. Put your finger into the hole in the back of the fridge and push down on the white plastic crossbar. Mine was stuck or frozen in the up position. When it snapped down and was free to move up and down I put the drawer back and it works perfectly. Good luck.

Our GE Monogram Icemaker will only dispense crushed ice

You have a solenoid switch which switches the dispenser back and forth from crushed to cube. It could be stuck or not working or the parts connecting it could be disconnected or broken. You will have to observe to see if any parts are moving and if any noise is coming from the solenoid
Remove the dispenser cover by gently prying starting at the bottom going round and round a little at a time to prevent from breaking it. When it's off the screws will be exposed to access the other components

Ice maker frozen on "crushed" ice mode

Check the bar below the icemaker bin. There is a gold color metal bar that goes from the front of the bin to the back and goes into a lever at the back of the freezer. If the bar gets on the wrong side of the lever it will be stuck in crushed mode.

GHE monogram ice maker.

pull the icemaker out, say be one inch, shack it a bit, and jam it back in. We've done that each time we had that problem, before it started to work. The icemaker is designed poorly, my openion, and gets jammed easily each time you use the crushed ice. crushed ice jams the ice crusher, and cloggs the pathway resulting a no ice dispensing situation. Also try using only whole ice cubes, instead of the crushed ice. the less you use the crusher the less you'll have to problem. one last thing. if the ice is sitting in the basket for a while, due to poor ice despensor opening door design, the ice in the basket cloggs together causing the probelm.

Ice maker

There is something called a crusher control rod located on your icemaker bin. If you pull the bin out, you'll see it protruding from the backside of the bin. That rod inserts into the solenoid, which looks like a hole usually when looking in the freezer with the ice bin removed, it's toward the left side behind the bin.

This solenoid and rod work together to give you either crushed or cubed ice. See if the solenoid is stuck or iced up. You should be able to remove the ice and push it up and down to break it free.
