Question about Freezers
I have just brought A Hotpoint FF200EG Frost Free fridge/freezer second hand today, when I first turned it on the alarm sounded and both lights at the top started to flash.
The alarm has now gone off. The unit has been on for the last few hours, the freezer is getting cold but the fridge still feels warm and the two lights at the top are continually flashing.
Also, the bottom drawer in the freezer is missing and the bottom of the freezer was packed with a large amount of ice. I have cleaned the unit and initially there was no ice left at the bottom of the freezer, half an hour later ice had started to form and collect in one of the corners. I now wonder if the drawer unit got broken by the fact that ice has stopped the drawer from being opened. Is this a problem with this freezer?
What do the flashing lights mean as I do not have a manual.
I turned the fridge and freezer off using the circular dials, I then turned the unit off at the mains. Left it for a few minutes and then turned the power back on. I then turned the circular dials to "max" and then depressed the super cool and super freeze buttons to turn this facility on. This time they came on normally (not flashing) and no alarm sounded. The fridge and freezer then started to get cold. Once the unit had been running for several hours I then turned the dials to the 3/4 mark and depressed the super cool and super freeze buttons again to turn them off. Over night the fridge and the freezer appear to be working properly so I hope that my problem is solved. Maybe the unit just needed to "settle" before being switched on?
