Question about Whirlpool Dishwashers
Dishwasher will not turn on after choosing your cycle. You can select your cycle the time for normal wash shows 3:15. You then hit start and you get the 4 second count down to close the door. It latches but the unit does not start at all and on the time you see it went down to 1:30 and it continues to count down fast and just goes blank. Is it the control panel?

Your problem is the electronic control board and unfortant that you cant repair or even get parts for it . Only if you get the whole control board will you fix your problem assy unless you find a good appliance man that repairs electronic control boards

will these units (silo and jtrip) start back on their own? if so, it is likely they are heating the water.
otherwise it sounds like a logic board, unless there is a defective door switch or sensor issue.
electronics seem to be a recurring problem with whirlpool.
i would ask whirlpool (electorlux) to either buy it back or fix it.

This is very likely due to a bad main electronic control board but the only way to know for sure is to do some electrical testing with a volt/ohm meter and the wiring diagram located within the appliance. If possible use the meter and the wiring diagram to check input/output voltages looking for discrepancies between the diagram and the actual meter readings.

If it's under warranty, get someone to look at it. Probably a bad switch or sensor in the unit, could be something simple, and they're not hard to open up, but the soap dispenser mechanism has to be reassembled (it often falls apart upon taking the door apart). Last resort is the appliance serviceman. New house? New dishwasher? Warranty? That's your best option.
