whichever one supports the devices you're tying to connect and the amount of speakers you're trying to use. if you have a 4k tv, 5 speakers, a subwoofer, and a 4k blu ray player. go with the pioneer. If you have 7 speakers, a subwoofer, a 1080p tv, and a 1080p blu ray player. go with the onkyo.

Your best option would be the one you haven't found yet. 4k passive, 7.1, ethernet port to do firmware updates, and fiber optic for backwards compatibility with non hdmi devices, cd players ect.

SOURCE: Can I connect my Denon

It looks like there are digital inputs on the left side of the ax10 (looking from the back )that you could plug right into with RCA cable. Use zone three on the AVR and remember these are pre-amped connections so little gain will be needed. Also only audio no video can be sent. good luck Joe

Or maybe something is obstructing the rear panel ventilation device (or it has failed). Page 84

I had a problem recently after a power outage where both my receiver and an external amp would not power up until I unplugged them from the wall for a moment first.

How do I connect a TEAC Equalizer to a Pioneer VSX - 406 receiver?

In any 'connection' question there are at least two participants and specific answers require specific details of all parts.

Outs to Ins, usually in a Tape (Monitor) Loop. REC is OUT, PLAY is IN from the receiver's perspective. The EQ will have its own Tape Loop for other processors or tape decks. Same conventions apply.

ANY analog processor can only be used for analog stereo sources. As soon as you engage the monitor for the Tape Loop on the AVR any digital source will be silenced.

I HAVE A PIONEER VSX35 ELITE RECEIVER THAT HAS BEEN OVERLOADING. IT SEEMS TO NEED MORE VOLUME TO MAINTAIN NORMAL LEVELS. IT CYCLED OFF THEN CAME BACK ON TWICE. NOW IT ACKS LIKE THERE IS NO OWER, ONLY RED...

Having a live-and-kicking VSX-36TX receiver which I love, I feel for you. But the prices have come down dramatically since we bought them. I paid $1200 for mine new. If I needed to replace it I would go with a used one from eBay and consider searching specifically for one that uses the same remote but doesn't have one included. The price would be low.

Like this beasty, no remote for $250 delivered:

or this one with a remote for $232 delivered.

I just bought a pioneer vsx-d409 from someone online. It came with all speakers and a subwoofer, I plugged it into the subwoofer preout and I get nothing. I plugged the sub into my pc and got it to work...

RTFM. The manual is available at retrevo.com.

Some setup is required, like telling the receiver you have a subwoofer and setting speaker levels. Modern avr's are NOTplug and play.
