Have your gas supplier verify delivery pressure. Too high or low, the valve will lock up. Should be a free service.

You may have a problem with the gas valve. Once that HSI gets hot it send a signal to the gas valve to open. I would start there and it could also be you have a bad pressure switch. There should be a pressure switch attached to the gas valve, and when that switch closes it opens the main valve portion the GV to ignite the flame. Hope maybe that helps you out.

I have a Trane gas furnace with White Rodgers 50A50-474 board is flashing a 2 flash code which is a system lockout-no flame/Check line polarity message. The furnace blower contines to run, but the gas...

Sounds like your ignitor is bad, not lighting the gas. If this happens 3x, then controler goes into lockout and induced draft motor continues to run to extract the gas fumes as a safety.
Either replace the HSI (Hot Surface Ignitor) or sand down the end of the electronic spark ignitor and it's ground rod (they work like an exposed spark plug) to remove the carbon buildup on it so it can spark again. All with the power off, of course!

A 13 code means the furnace cycled on limit more than three times consecutively and is in a lockout for 3 hours. A 14 is ignition lockout. An ignitor does not intermittently quit working. I'm the service mgr at our shop, and I know that particular furnace model has a service bulletin out on bad secondary heat exchangers. If your lucky the filter is dirty, or the furnace condensate trap or drain is clogged. Most likely the secondary heat exchanger is plugged up and isn't allowing the pressure switch to make. Or the furnace is overheating due to it not being able to properly vent hot gas. Which would explain the high limit lockouts. Call an authorized carrier dealer so you can take advantage of the free heat exchangers and the $300 labor credit. You can also call an authorized Bryant dealer to perform the work for you. Only an authorized dealer can rectify this problem because the Bryant corp requires testing and paperwork in order to get your free parts and labor credit.
Good luck.

Carrier weathermaker 8000 cycle problems

When the furnace fires and then 1 second later the flame quits, that's your flame sensor/flame rod. Its the lil metal rod at the burner section, that the flame passes across/comes in contact with. Has 1 wire connected to it. Clean it gently with a pc of sand paper, but don't make it shine, just a light cleanind will do. Here is a link that has answered the trouble codes.

I would check hot surface ignitor or spark ignitor to make sure they are working. If not then replace them and try again. If ignitor does not come on control board will shut down, try to restart usually try 4-5 times then lock. out. Generally for a preset time then try again. If it has tried to start to many times and failed it will lockout until power is shut off and it can reset. Hope this helps you. Thanks

My goodman furnace will start to ignite, then it glows and then shuts off. THe fan keeps blowing. The red light blinks once. The system code says "system lockout".

Another part that you might want to check is the flame sensor. It is a very good chance that this is the problem, the stat calls for heat, the induced draft motor (little motor on from of furnace), ignitor comes on, the main burner fires, just for a second or two, the burner shuts down, the main blower motor defaults to blower on!
If this is the issue;
Then this is what you do to fix it, kill power to the furnace, look where the burners are, to the left side there is a little wire, usually yellow or orange running to what kinda looks like a spark plug, one screw should be holding it to the burner bracket. take it out, at the end of the white porcelain is a small metal rod sticking out, it probably has a slight bend in it.
take some steel wool, or sand paper and clean the rod till is is nice and shiny, NOTE: when you take it out, it won't look really dirty, maybe just like a pencil lead,,,,it is dirty!
Just use the sandpaper and clean the rod till it looks like metal, "do not sand the white porcilen". Put the part back in and turn the power back on and run the furnace as usual.
90 % chance that this will fix your problem.
The rod get a build-up on it from the sulfur that is added to the gas, and has a hard time passing the milli-volt signal back to the furnace computer, which is passed from the ignitor, through the flame, to the sensor! This way the computer knows that all of the burners are firing and it is safe to run!
Please take time to come back and rate me, or contact me with any further questions!
Have a warm day :)
Sincerely,
Paul Gibson

NOTE!!
Do not touch the ignitor! The part that gets bright and hot! Even when it is cold, the oil on your fingers will cause it to burn out.

RHEEM RGLE-10EQAGS Gas Furnace - Intermitent. Fans come on, Hot surface Ignitor comes on, then sometimes Gas Valve opens and all is fine, Other times, gas valve doesn't open and Hot surface Ignitor goes...

The sequence is Igniter comes on, valve comes on, flame sensor senses flame. If no flame is sensed after 3 tries, a lockout occurs. If you have a volt meter, check for 24-27 Volts AC coming to the gas valve, if your getting voltage to the valve but no gas, your gas valve is defective. It could be a intermittent problem, no matter, still a bad valve. if no voltage to valve, defective circuit board.

Lock out light

these furnaces have a sequence of operation , 1 thermostats calls for heat,2 purge fan checks flue is open and not clogged ,3 checks to see if hot plate ignitor or spark ignitor is on 4opens gas valve 5 checks for flame and allows valve to stay open 6 checks for temperature rise and brings on fan , if any of the process is not there or interrupted trys 3 times and defaults to lockout , that is the best answer with out knowing what type you have , hope i helped
