Yes, the black wire goes to ground.

Yellow - Constant 12v.

Black - Ground (MUST hook up! NEVER let your antenna pull the ground)

Red - Switched 12v through the ignition

Each manufacturer has their own color code. Generally, black is hot & white is neutral. You should confirm this with a test light or a meter. To complicate things even more, some manufacturers have a receiver in the box for a remote. The best thing to do when replacing a switch with multiple speeds is to transfer one wire at a time to the new switch (with the power turned off at the circuit breaker panel).

How to wire for 220 v

220 is two hots and one ground. If it were me I would leave red orange and white "together",then verify your voltage on remaining wires. 110, 110, 0. If not, youre no good. Try something different. It doesn't matter what "line" goes to what "load" just as long as one of these goes through whatever relay/switch you are using. Good Luck. Hopefully single phase. If motor runs backwards swap wires.

We are talking about a 115 Volt AC motor, I believe. The black wire will be connected to the small blade of a polarized plug, also known as a cap. The white wire will attach to the large or wide blade of that same plug. The green wire will attach to the U shaped prong.

How to wire to attic fan? Old Sping loaded timer has two wire connections Marked LINE and LOAD . There are two Romex- Three wire cables with Black , White (Common) and bare (Grd) wires coming into this box...

OK, your new switch will require the use of a neutral wire. So you will have to do what is called a pigtail. You will have to twist another white wire in with your other white wires to attach your neutrals to your switch. Note: white wires are called neutral not common. Hook the wires that were originally hooked up to your LINE to your HOT (Black) on your new timer, and the what was originally LOAD up to the new timer LOAD. SO as far as wiring all that will change is your white wires that need to attach to your timer NEUTRAL.

I was given a Kenwood KDC-1011S. All wires labled

Yellow is for constant 12v. (Power directly from battery) so it maintains preset stations and clock memory. Red is for Key "on" 12v Power (turns on when ignition key is on) Black is for Chasis Ground. What type of vehicle is it going in? I can get you the corresponding vehicle color as well. Post a comment with make/model & year vehicle. Hope this helps.

To wireup 160c Garmin fishfinder, there are seven clored wires. The book shows red and Yellow to hot. Black and blue to ground. Do the white, green and brown connect? Can the black and yellow be connected...

You only need the red and black wires to supply power to the unit. The red positive wire goes to a positive terminal on your battery or positive side of a bus bar or switch, the black negative wire goes to the negative terminal on the battery or negative common bus bar. Do not try to earth the black wire to an aluminum boat hull... You are asking for trouble! Best to run the black wire straight back to the negative battery terminal or negative bus bar that is wired to the negative battery terminal. The other colored wires on the 160C plug are used for interfacing with NMEA2000 compatible devices, like a compatible GPS.
