Question about Sony TC WE435 Stereo Dual Cassette Deck Single Dual Cassette Deck
I have a Sony TC-WR645S dual cassette tape deck with a cassette tape stuck in one of the decks (it was trying to REW when it stopped and got stuck). Every time I turn on the deck, it seems to try to FF or REW the tape for a couple of seconds, but nothing happens, and I cannot eject the tape. Is there a way to remove the tape?
Most of these least expensive unit have this problem as the mechanism are not designed like the large solenoid models were that last many years- some 30. The belt that drives the flywheel where the mechanism movement is loose or broken and it is even with a good belt that the mechanism needs lubrication. This would all be taken care of by a repair Technician. I work on units all the time but I don't know if this priced of unit would qualify for repair as repair can cost over $100.

It needs new belts. Not easy to do yourself. I have done one and it is very difficult. Must also align gear wheel which will probably go out of alignment while you are trying to replace the belts. Big pain. Cheaper to just buy another used model or better yet a new one.

Try pushing the eject button while pusshing the power button. Mine was doing the same and that is how I was able to eject the tape.
