Brendadeese, You might be able to repair it. Well your husband or boyfriend maybe. If good with a soldering iron, solder-wick, solder, and $5-$12 in new filter capacitors. You should have visited YOUTUBE for video clips of "LCD monitor disassembly"and "LCD monitor repair" to see just what is involved with making BLACK SCREEN of DEATH go away. Most LCD monitors (98%) use same basic backlighting technology. Here are some repair options for you to ponder over! A. If KDS has a swapout program for BSoD units try it first! B. Contract out the REFURBISHMENT work to reputable local firm that knows exactly what is needed to do the work properly. C. Trade in for new unit. But remember that the tech in the back of the store is going to repair your unit with a little luck and have a nice monitor to give to his kids on Christmas, and won"t need to do it again till Christmas 2011 or 12. I would also recomend a visit to www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm to learn what may be the cause of your BSoD. FYI If K92MDWb had a crisp, bright, colorful image just prior to BSoD, try doing the flashlight test so you will know if the units "switch-mode-power-supply" is in "full" or "partial" shutdown mode. 12fixlouie If this was of some help, please rate on fixya.

Why does screen go black after a few seconds

Hope this helps.... Your monitor has an inverter issue. You know it's an inverter problem when:
1. Your monitor starts normally and displays the startup/desktop screen for a while.
2. Then it suddenly goes off, leaving a blank (black) screen or a very dim display.

To fix this black screen problem, change the inverter board (based on your monitor brand).

Monitor powers on then goes black after a few minutes. Turn the monitor off and on again it resumes working for a few minutes then same problem.

Check to make sure that a CCFL has not burn out. If this is not the case you will have to repair the Power Inverter unit. Be very careful as these Caps can store LETHAL Voltages. TCC

My AOC screen goes black after about a few seconds after booting.

Hello,

The picture board on your monitor is bad, since it goes off after few seconds and the power led or button is on, it means the picture board of your monitor has developed fault.

The best thing for you to do now is to take the monitor to a local repairer or service center within your vicinity to help with the replacement of the picture board because the fault is not something you can fix yourself, in order not to complicate issues.

Take care.

My monitor stays on for 6 seconds

Hello,

You have a monitor with a common problem. After a few years some LCD monitors will blow a power supply. The problem is caused by parts called capacitors overheating in the confined space of he monitor. If you are good at electronics repair/soldering you can usually fix he problem. Check out a few pictures on my web site www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htmYou can take the back cover off your monitor and look for the bad parts, replace any that look like the pictues and your monitor should work fine. The capacitors do need to be installed with the correct + and -connections, note the stripe on the old one and insert the new one the same way. If you don't want to try the repair yourself we offer a repair service for $35 plus shipping. I hope this helps, if so please rate my solution.

if you look closely can you see a very dark image on the screen? your problem is usually the result of the backlight on its way out, these are very hard to replace so you will need to take it to a profesional, in most cases it is cheeper to buy a new screen.

KDS monitor screen goes blank.when you shut it off & turn it back on it goes blank again within a few seconds.

make sure all the cables are secure... by unplugging and re-plugging them back in. Does the monitor feel very hot in the back or on top? If so unplug the monitor and tip it upside down to make sure nothing metal fell inside.
