I have a PMP5000 that I had to resurect. I had to trace out the power supply to repair it.

I can give you hint: First, a small supply runs directely from the line and generates some of the small voltages. While this starts, the main power caps are charged through limiting resistors. The main switcher is brought online and if the power amps acheive balance, then a relay connects the speakers and shorts the limiting resistors.

This is what is in the 5000 and I suspect the 3000 is similar.

In my 5000, there was arcing at one side of the power amps. The board was burned and three power fets fried. Cancer of burned board had to be carved out and traces replaced by hardwiring.
In addition, the limiting resistors were blown open, both main switching transistors were blown and 4 small driver transistors (surface mounted) and several diodes AND a switching regulator chip (surface mounted).all fried/

Hint: When restarting the unit, put a 150 watt light in series with one of side of the power input to limit the current in case you did not get all the dead bodies out.

This is a class "D" amp which drives PCM waves into a filter which is then the audio output. It is much more efficient thaan a linear amp.

I'm Ziro. I need a part list for the main power supply board for behringer pmp4000 mixer, two transistors were removed from it and I need to know the part numbers of each in order to install them.

In my opinion, due to the physical appearance of pmp4000 and pmp3000 look the same, it will most likely also have a common circuit and parts list (at least, most).
Usually Behringer (and all the manufacturers), with the same series / sequence, using the same circuit, the difference is the number of channels only. You can compare the parts list on PMP3000 schematic, with your PMP4000.

The word "dissapator is unclear what you mean. If it is a "heat sink" there are FIVE heat sinks on the supply. By not specifying which one we are at a loss to help you.

I have a behringer pmp3000 which has stopped working on channel A. I know what the problem is and have sourced a replacement board. Is it still possible to use it as a mixer if the amp section is...

What is the source of the HCA2400 module? Be very careful if you disconnect the power supply 70 volt cables to discharge the caps before connecting new amp module otherwise you will do some welding with the arc that occurs. You could run the unit with the 70 volt cables pulled at the power supply... leave the other little cables in place. Also be sure to read my tip on Fixya regarding the Channel A hazard with speaker cables. I received an HCA2400 replacement that was wrapped in pink bubble so tight that 5 small electrolytic caps near the audio input cables were broken loose destroying the circuit board. Be sure and check your replacement in this area for damage due to improper shipment. I have repaired some of the HCA2400 that burned up channel A... it is a lot of work to grind out the damaged board and re-insulate and restore circuits with jumpers.

Hi I got PMP3000 and all of a sudden in the program smoke came out of the unit and I unplugged the Mixer...I have given it to repair and they saying the Main power SMPS has blown out..they charging too...

Sorry... you likely have one of the power amp channels bad as well. One does NOT replace the power supply, instead repair it. You need a competent repair shop. I can tell you what parts are blown on the supply. They cost about $30 max for parts to repair the power supply. There usually is about $15 of parts blown on the amp that caused the problem and significant labor to repair the amp portion. If the smoke was dark or heavy, it was likely from the 0.03 ohm metering resistor on the bottom of the amp circuit board that caused the original problem. If one replaces the power supply and turns power on they will find one side of the amp doesn't work and MAY blow the power supply again immediately. I have repaired several of these units and have walked others through the repair sequence as well. You can contact me directly by email for more info if you need it. Unless you can find a competent repair shop that replaces components, including work on surface mounted boards, the cost of the module parts AND availability will preclude repair. The amp module is another $155 after the power supply is repaired if a channel is bad and one chooses to replace rather than repair.

There is no sounds coming out of the left channel

Assuming your PAN controls are centered at 12 o'clock, likely one of the power amps has failed. There is a design weakness in insulation on the circuit board of channel A that often fries three to 5 transistors and a Zener diode and sometimes a metering resistor. The board gets charred and requires a lot of work to carve out the cancer and restore the insulation and circuit traces. If the problem persists and one continues to use it, sometimes further arcing will destroy the power supply as well.

I need help on changing a fuse in PMP3000. The mixer went out on us one day, so I hooked it into an amp that we had. It works good as an unpowered mixer, but cannot get it to work as a powered mixer. I...

No, that is NOT what the problem is.

The fuse protects the power supply. The power amps have failed. The usual cause is an arc between layers of the multi-layer circuit board. The labor to repair the power amp module is extensive. I have repaired several.

You can find new amp modules and I would purchase a new one and drop into your unit. The amp module is an HCA2400.

There is probably $15 of parts blown in each side of the power amp and it takes about 6 hours to repair. One has to grind out the burned area (internal layers not necessarily visible on surface) and re-insulate and then install jumper wires to replace those taken out.

Each side of the amp will likely take out 3 switching MOSFET transistors and often a Zener diode. Sometimes a low resistance metering resistor will be fried with smoky residue underneath the board. When this happens two small surface mounted resistors will be blown open. Great care has to be taken when insulating the board damage and replacement of the blown circuit traces.

You can find HCA2400 power amp module replacements for about $175 online.

Use of the unit as an unpowered mixer is a bit dangerous as if arc re-establishes it can fry the power supply taking out two very expensive IGBT's and many other components. If the mixer still works, then your whole power supply is still OK.

I plug in the power lead and it makes a blowing noise the a spark comes out the back

The power amp blew... There is a marginal insulation in a circuit board that wipes out the rear-most power amplifier. Usually accompanied by sparks and smoke.

If the lights still come on for the effects window, then the power supply is OK and you are VERY lucky... have the unit serviced immediately.

If no lights come on now, the the power supply is toast as well. There will be about 20 components fried.

I know as I have repaired 4 of these... no fun, believe me!

Im looking for a curcuit diagram for the switchmode power supply in my Behringer PMP3000.

If the supply failed I can tell you which parts to replace... and if it failed there may be a failure in the power amp that caused it. You can contact be directely at fredy2 @ aol.com... put Behringer in the subject.

The supply when it fails takes out eleven components including two expensive IGBT transistors. If the rearmost amp fried, add at least four more components and a lot of work carving out burned board and wiring around the blown circuit traces.

Power supply cooked

There isn't anything in the power supply you cannot rebuild except the transformer.

BUT you should verify that something in the mixer didn't short out and damage the supply.

After you relace the smoked parts (likely the TOP245Y offline regulator chip is gonzo... then you use this trick to restart the unit safely:

Put a 60 Watt light bulb in series with the hot side of the input power line. I would recommend you use an ISOLATION transformer when working on the power line side of this for safety.
