Question about Bose Lifestyle 28 System

1 Answer

I have a Lifestyle 35 and want to replace head unit with a 5.1 receiver. The Bose subwoofer model LSPS uses a network type cable connector on the sub side and a male din plug on the head unit side of cable. How can I convert and use the the 5+sub speaker system to use on a "Normal 5.1 Receiver"?

The entire 5.1 amplification system, in the Bose Lifestyle 35, is actually part of the Bose Acoustimass (subwoofer) module. The RJ-45 (network type) connector passes a low-voltage signal from the console to the Acoustimass module. If you were to hack the connection, and plug the speaker outputs of a 5.1 receiver to the RJ-45 socket on the Acoustimass module, you would blow the amplifier.

If you are really itching to replace the Bose Lifestyle 35 console with a regular 5.1 receiver, I strongly suggest you sell your Bose system, and purchase a Bose speaker system, such as the Acoustimass 10 Home Theater Speaker System, which is made for use with a standard 5.1 surround sound receiver.

Bose lsps speaker system

First, please check that you have everything switched correctly. If you still have no audio, any functions, but the unit turns on, you may have DC Offset, meaning a damaged amplifier. For more information, please contact me at audioserviceclinic.com. Thank you.

Hi,sorry but you can not connect it directly like other sub-woofers..
Bose 2683 Powered Subwoofer is part of Bose Lifestyle 5 system, Please note that you will need the 5-pin DIN cable that connects the subwoofer to the base or "Music Center". and the 4 pronged connections for its own stereo speaker output not input from another stereo..
Sorry....but if you can arrange some handy man nearby ,he may get into the DIN cable to locate the subwoofer signal 2x input leads than you can use that leads for connecting into single sub woofer out let of your system...otherwise try to sell BOSE which can easily buy brand new up to date powered sub..

How to add secon subwoofer to my lifestyle bose system?

You cannot add a second sub woofer to your Bose system unless you are very well versed in electronics and would like to tamper with the internal electronics of the Bose module. Unlike other systems the 6 channel amplifier ( 5 + 1sub ) and its crossover electronics + power supply unit is built into the Bose bass module. The circuit uses very small surface mounted devices with double sided pcb ). And even a professional technician might refuse this work in fear that he may damage the whole unit itself !!!!.

AVR-1910 & Bose Lifestyle 35 setup

Bose Lifestyle (and all Bose-amplified speaker) products and their speakers are SYSTEMS and should not be split up or intermixed with other brands or models. Damage will probably result. Proprietary connectors provides a clue.

The digital audio out should work with the Bose. You could still use your Denon to drive a conventional sub in your scheme, but you would have to manually match volume with the Bose. Or go Full Monty and buy a full complement of speakers for the Denon, retask the Bose and slave its sources to the Denon.

AV28 had been stored in closet for 1 year. When I reinstalled the system, there was no sound (sub or satelites). The power to the sub is ok, but I can't tell if it is powered up as I could not find a power...

AV28? You mean a Lifestyle 28 with dvd head unit? Is the head unit lit up?.. It has its own power supply box/lead of course. Then the multi pin lead needs to be in zone 1 (or A) I think. The head unit should then command the bass to turn on- you won't hear/see any indication of this...except if its the later ones with the ethernet type connector and there are some data green leds to show signs of life. Some models used red/white phonos for the sound so make sure these are connected from head unit to bass. Its not uncommon for the mains fuse insode a bass unit to fail for no reason..the cover is a sod to get off- undo any screws then move the toothed arm out 90deg first, then give a sharp bang downwards on the end cover. good luck.
