Question about Pioneer XVDV830/SDV830 DVD AUDIO HTP System
We bought a DVD/CD tuner xvdv830....with about 5 speakers and sub woffer....do I need anything to complete this system. We bought at all boxed up, NEW...but my husband says you have to have an amp too.
I said, that can't be true, why would anyone sell something that did not have all the things in the unit (box) to make it work?
Another friend of ours said it IS complete...the amp is in the tuner.
Question: who is correct.
(My husband WON"T put it together because he thinks he is right)
Typically no. The device should plug into the wall, and amplify the signal by itself. It should have one or more input RCA jacks in the back for various external devices like VCRs, CD Players or your TV box, and it should have several output ports that the speaker wires and sub woofer plug in to. You shouldn't have to worry about the signal strength or amplifying it.
Just so long as you use the speakers that were designed for the unit. If you decided to use third party speakers with a higher impedance, then you would need an amp.
Have either of you looked at the quick setup instructions in the manual? It would have basic instructions on setting up a simple home theature, and if an amp is necessary, it would be indicated there.
