it says theres a disk boot error when i start the computer and when i try to recover it with the discs it cant read the disc. when i do the alt f10 it just sits there on the green acer screen and says please wait and then it reboots. i did the alt f10 again after i sent you the email and it went through the whole recovery successfully and when it was setting up the computer it restarted and said there was a disk boot error.

What's the color of the monitor, is it all black? or when you turn on the computer does it show some black and white texts? if not is it all completely black screen? if not, was it able to show the Windows XP welcome note? if not, was there any error message? if so, tell me.

Why do not restored disks work for Acer Aspire M1100?

Turn off the computer Henry then turn it back on and hold down the alt key and tap F10 and make sure you remove any disks from the CD drive.
It would appear that the hard drive is having boot sector issues.

Recovery cd for acer aspire 5332

Mostly Acer machines come with a partition installed in them, basically if you cant boot to windows, you can simply hold down Alt Key and Continuously tap the F10 key immediately after booting up the unit to get to the recovery mode.
Or you can simply contact Acer for the Recovery CD's.

I have 1recovery **** named aspire 5610 dvd2 should i have a dvd1 disk also

go to http://www.sysresccd.org/Download
download the iso and burn it to a cd.
boot your computer with it
read the explanations coming up on the screen and when you see that you can choose how to start, type "wizard"
choose the top choice (auto)
when it starts right click on the desktop and start GPARTED.
one of the discs will be marked as "boot"
right click the disc called "recovery" (or the one that is not marked as boot).
choose manage flags
set it to Boot.
press apply on top (not always needed tho)
in the left picture (the one that opened from the start)
type reboot
remove the cd when you see the acer logo again.
the acer recovery manger should start.

Laptop system

Hi
Well this is a problem if you didn't make a factory disk nor backed up the system configurations then only thing that will work is to reinstall the operating system. Here is a trick that Acer will never tell you
press the on button and imedetly press ALT + F10 in this order ALT + F10 - ALT + F10 until it goes into recovery mode all the Acers that has 2 partitions have the recovery mode then click on recover to factory defult this will load the factory operating system + driversand applications
kind regards  Mervinh
