Every laptop has its own key button in order to access the Bios setup, In Bios setup you can configure your laptop to boot in Cd

Some laptops using the F2, F11, Esc buttons. After the power on press the button right away when you see it flashing in the screen

Inside the Bios setup, go to the Boot order menu, there a selection that will let you choose the Cd to boot first after selection save the setting, in the bottom of your screen you'll find the menu on how to save the settings you made, sometimes F10 button use to save the settings.

After the Save menu it will automatically restart your computer. Right away insert your bootable Cd in restart mode.

Take a can of air and blow some air onto the laser gently to make sure no dust or dirt is affecting it.

Then go into the BIOS and make sure the cd-rom is the first boot device. Then put your operating system cd into the drive and "press any key" when that message comes up so the system can boot up off of the cd.

If after setting the cd-rom as the 1st boot device you can't get the laptop to boot up off of the OS cd then that means the cd-rom is bad and would need to be replaced. When you boot up off of the cd-rom your in DOS and any viruses or worms wouldn't affect it.

Suggest getting Advanced System Care free and AVG antivirus from www.downloads.com. This may take care of the bug. The boot sequence would otherwise have to be changed in the bios. Try hitting F8 upon boot to see if you can get to boot menu, depending upon what operating system you are using.

Go into BIOS by pressing F2 and configure the boot order to boot from CD rom first save the changes and reboot your system.

Make sure you have a bootable disc. If it is an original system disc then it is if XP has been burnt onto the disc then it is questionable.

In the boot order the cd is second so it boots from the hard disk. You need to change that in the BIOS: press F1 immediately after start to access BIOS; there find the boot order (it's either directly in the main screen or it's in the Advanced section); in there put the cd first and the hard disk second.
And next time use a better antivirus, one that has a boot scan capability - the only one that is free for home use is Avast.

Apparantley i have a trojan worm in my lap top, i have norton and caled them they say i have a problem and my laptop is out of warranty and i have to purchase another one is this true

NO, you do NOT have to purchase a new laptop.

What the people at Norton probably meant was that your Norton anti virus software has expired and you need to purchase a new anti virus subscription from Norton if you want them to help you.

There are however other anti virus software manufacturers out there that are free and/or will allow you a 30 day trial period.

To help you clean out the worm in your system:

  • Find out the name of the worm you have on your system (your norton program will tell you this).
  • Go to this page: http://free.avg.com/us-en/virus-removal
  • Click on the link that has the same name as the worm on your system (don't worry about the I-worm or W32 part of the name, e.g. if your worm name contains navidad you want to click the I-worm/navidad link or if your worm name contains bugbear you want to click the I-worm/Bugbear.C link etc.)
  • Follow the instructions on the page you get to in order to get rid of your problem.
Hope this helps ;)

I have sony Vaio VGN-CS36GJ - Recently i was trying to restore it to factory settings via Vaio recovery due to virus attach but suddenly it didn't either recovered to factory setting but looks as operating...

I would have recomended Norton Antivirus or a full programme anti virus to clean your drive. However, it is almost too late for repairs.
You need to format your drive but as there seems to be a "Worm" type virus, I guess due to the problems you are having trying to re install OS, it will keep reinfecting the drive due to it being resident in the memory.
You really need an antivirus programme to clean your Sony Vaio before you can succesfully place an uninfected OS on your drive. I hope the recovery partion is not infected as well, a good anti virus programme will clean it though. When it is clean, boot with a system disk with the same OS on it and when you get to drive "C" hopefully drive "D" will be available, assuming "D" is the recovery drive partition.

When you get your anti virus disk, you will need it to be a bootable disk with the format command on it. When it has been cleaned you can then format the disk and put your recovery OS disk back on.
Hope this helps.

What do you recommend as an anti virus for

I would say you to use Mcafee. Norton is good but slow down the system a lot.

I can not get my laptop to turn on.

The Conflicker worm will execute at start-up and a predetermined date/time regardless of battery removal. If you did have the virus (very possible), and you started your system, you will have destroyed the boot sector of the hard disk necessary for Windows to operate properly.

Your solution is to use your factory restore disk to wipe the drive and re-install Windows.

Use a robust anti-virus program like NOD32/ESET after you restore your system. They have a 30 day free trial, and it's well worth the price of 50 dollars a year to protect yourself from further attack.

How will i remove the virus manually?

i hope you got norton off your system before putting AVG free on. Virus programs try to fight off other virus programs by postiong false virus claims to erase the other program. eventually they will kill your hard drive. You need a product key for a good virus protectant. Norton or CA offer good, reliable protection for your dollar. What i would do, is back up any really important stuff you have there, format your hard drive and install Vista again if you have the disc and then re-install it to permanetly delete viruses. Also your system maybe slow because VIsta needs at least a dual core processor and 2 GB RAM to work like a XP machine

How can i remove virus worm/autoit permanently

its simple guys..!!!
if it asks for permission to access outlook..don't permit it because it is a smart virus and is going to spread it to all the people on your contact list...!!!
simply open task manager and end process tree of KHATRA.exe , gHost.exe , xplorer.exe and OUTLOOK.exe seperately...!!
then run your anti virus or download one if you don't have one..!!!
run a complete computer scan in detail..!!
then delete all files which are infected by the virus because the results contain only duplicate files which are created by the virus
