How to locate and replace copier exhaust fan

I read on your site that a 3H error code on my Sharp AL-1631 copier means that it has an overheating problem. How can I go about checking and/or replacing an exhaust fan? Is that under the case on the left side of the unit, above the power switch? And where can I purchase the part?
Thank you!

Thank you for your help, Andy. I checked the picker fingers, and they seemed to be fine to me. What else could be causing the H3 error? The copier is only about 2 years old, and has 8491 total copies on it.

Thanks again for your help. I did the reset as suggested, and now the machine attempts a start up, and I hear the fan, but then it immediately goes to an L4 error code. Another post an Fixya states that the L4 code is a drive motor problem. What do you think, or suggest?

    Thank you!

Hi, H3 is abnormal high tempeature in the fuser. Never had issues with the fan, probably you have a 'melt down', inspect the fuser through the sprung loaded flap and see if the three picker fingers that rest on the roller are melted. If they are then you require a fuser rebuild to include both fuser rollers, fingers, bearings and thermal fuse.

Mark, yes L4 is main motor, do the reset again. If L4 reappears i still think you have fuser issues. Being very careful not to electricute your self, remove the fuser by the two chrome screws, leave still connected, as you look at the machine from the end, lower left hand side should be a chrome plate, which when pressed in makes the door switch. Switch the machine on while holding the fuser, make the door switch. Machine should turn over, also you should see the heater lamp come on.

Hi, try a main board reset by pressing these buttons= cancel, exposure, cancel, exposure. Display has to go dead, enter 14 then print. Should reset however if there is an on going fault then H3 will return. If it does then your thermal fuse, located in the fuser unit, will need replacing.

Andy :)

the h means that your fuser needs to be replaced. it might be fixable by changing the thermal fuse but most of the time the whole fuser needs to be replaced

Sharp al 1631 copier has a H 4 code on I reset it and it seams to work but for how long will it last

A H-4 error code means that there is aproblem with the fuser unit. It could be that the thermister is dirty and not reading the correct temp. of the upper fuser roller. How long will it last for? Your guess is as good as mine... There are to many things that may cause it to fail... Good Luck

Sharp AL 1631 is flashing 1 L. What does that

This might refer to your scanner assy being locked. The scanner assy is the unit under the glass that scans your document prior to copying it. Look inside the cavity where you pick up your completed copies. Look at the upper left corner and see if there is a knob there. If there is, make sure it is in the completely unlocked position.
