Question about Sony BRAVIA KDL-52W4100 52 in. LCD HDTV
Hello I have a Sony Bravia 52V4100 LCD TV that has several colored vertical lines about a half inch in on both sides of the TV when it is turned on. This occurs with all imputs so it is screen related. They go away after about 1.5 - 2 hours and the picture is fine. Any suggestions as to the issue and cost to fix would be appreciated. It has so far only occured on the edge, the TV is 1.5 years old. I don't know when it started as I use my LCD mostly as a monitor zoomed and don't display an image edge to edge except for DVDs. I noticed it about 3 months ago.
Since the lines go off after a while what you have is a faulty t-con board also known as video driver board or Timing control board, a notorious problem in the Bravia LCDs. Easy to replace. Remove the old connectors, unscrew the board from the Chassis, screw the new one in and plug in the connectors. However it is mandatory to wear an ESD wrist strap. You should also turn off the set and unplug from power supply before starting the repair. Part can be purchased from the link below. Costs just under 40$

Servicing the unit requires a service manual , only with a fee.
I wish I could tell
you there was a quick fix or button to push that would fix
the TV problem but that is not the case or the solution needed to get
the unit operating correctly.
There could be many reasons. But, more Often, it would be
on the Circuits Board. You need to Open the TV, unplug the
wires from Circuits Board, pull it out and check it.
More often, you would find either a Loose Solder /
connection or Leaked / Bulged / Swelled capacitor. You
need to note down the part number and you could order it
online or go to your Local Electronics shop and
purchase it. Once you solder it, it would be all set.
Determine the symptoms; identify the cause of the symptoms;
repair the unit to eliminate the cause
