Colored Stripes Sony 52V4100 LCD TV for 1.5 hours after turned on

Hello I have a Sony Bravia 52V4100 LCD TV that has several colored vertical lines about a half inch in on both sides of the TV when it is turned on. This occurs with all imputs so it is screen related. They go away after about 1.5 - 2 hours and the picture is fine. Any suggestions as to the issue and cost to fix would be appreciated. It has so far only occured on the edge, the TV is 1.5 years old. I don't know when it started as I use my LCD mostly as a monitor zoomed and don't display an image edge to edge except for DVDs. I noticed it about 3 months ago.

Since the problem always clears up after an hour and a half or so, I'm wondering if this is a pretty big hint as to what it could be. Based on what the likely problem is, and that it is confined just to both edges (could the fact that both edges to 3 inches are usually black/unused when using the LCD for long periods be a factor?) is it likely that the vertical lines won't appear on ther parts of the screen, and simply using the edges more to warm up the circuits might help?

If necessary I can post images, but it is just vertical colored lines 4 or 5 together, red, green, etc, about a half inch from edge, a little different spacing and different colors on each side. Rest of picture unaffected. Any other viewers have an opinion?

Since the lines go off after a while what you have is a faulty t-con board also known as video driver board or Timing control board, a notorious problem in the Bravia LCDs. Easy to replace. Remove the old connectors, unscrew the board from the Chassis, screw the new one in and plug in the connectors. However it is mandatory to wear an ESD wrist strap. You should also turn off the set and unplug from power supply before starting the repair. Part can be purchased from the link below. Costs just under 40$

Hi,

Servicing the unit requires a service manual , only with a fee.

I wish I could tell

you there was a quick fix or button to push that would fix

the TV problem but that is not the case or the solution needed to get

the unit operating correctly.

There could be many reasons. But, more Often, it would be

on the Circuits Board. You need to Open the TV, unplug the

wires from Circuits Board, pull it out and check it.

More often, you would find either a Loose Solder /

connection or Leaked / Bulged / Swelled capacitor. You

need to note down the part number and you could order it

online or go to your Local Electronics shop and

purchase it. Once you solder it, it would be all set.

Determine the symptoms; identify the cause of the symptoms;

repair the unit to eliminate the cause

Let me know, if needed further assistance.

Thank you for choosing FixYa for assistance. I hope that my

information proves useful to you. If so, please take a moment

to provide me with a positive rating. I'd really appreciate it.

regards,

palaboy

most likely, might be good to have the image of the raster of the TV, or send a link where i can see

what kind of raster you are having.

those lines you have been mentioning ( ? ? ) maybe caused by some of the components here

    these

Inverter Board Master LTA400W2, or just from the cables that connects to the power

    supply board,

Visual inspection, Voltage Measurement are a must before deciding to have a new board.

Or if you have an electronic equipment and skills to have a component repair then

the service manual would be a great help to your troubleshooting.

Re-seat them once, and check If you are not familiar with electronics, do not attempt to repair. Whether you suffer fatal electrical shock! Instead, contact the nearest service center.

Sony bravia kdl-46w4100 moving vertical lines

Check the main filter capacitors at its power regulator board. Replace if found bulged or damaged. Replace all secondary side supply rails' filter capacitors too. The fault is with damaged electrolytic capacitors at the power regulator board itself.

Permanent Vertical Line on my Sony Bravia 46 inch LCD TV

What you're describing is usually the result of an improperly seated connector. With the power disconnected, open the tv and locate any connectors between the LCD screen and the driver circuit board. Unplug them, and reconnect it assuring it's properly and firmly seated. Be careful when handling these cables as they tend to be quite fragile... take your time.
