Question about GE (PSS26MSRSS) Side by Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

Top mount freezer won't cool, fridge works fine.

I have a top mount freezer that's 1 1/2 years old. The fridge works just fine, but the freezer stopped working. The setting was on normal, but it still didn't get cold when I put it on the coldest setting. I can feel the fan blowing cool air at the back of the freezer, but not nearly cold enough to do any good. Is there an easy fix for this? What could it be? Does this mean the fridge may go out soon, too?!

Frigidaire 16.5cu top mount not cooling fridge. freezer is froze

The baffle that opens to allow cooling into the refrigerator may be blocked, broken or mis wired. These units work by just cooling the freezer and then blowing some cold air into the refrigerator whenever the fridge thermostat calls for it. The fridge's thermostat is trying to cool the refrigerator but something is preventing the cool air from getting to the refrigeration part, that's why it's freezing up the freezer

Refrigerator will not get cold, but freezer works

Make sure your fan is working ,its located behind the freezers back wall. If it is working the vent from the freezer down to the refrigerator may be blocked (usually with ice). With out a fan you have no circulation but your freezer may look likes its working,it may last 3 days. Also if you can move everything out unplug it turn it off w/ doors open untill all traces of ice are gone this will free up any clogged tubes. Good luck.
